RUBEN PENA UNVEILS HIS CAMPAIGN (SIGN)

By Juan Montoya

Foiled in his attempt to place his yard signs before his seven challengers to the Cameron County Pct. 2 commissioner position placed theirs, Ruben Peña had his workers cover the offending sign after supporters of his opponents flooded the city with complaints.

But strong winds accompanying the latest northern front is making his effort to comply with the City of Brownsville's ban on yard signs 60-days before the Jan. 2 primary election difficult.

On Monday, the heavy black plastic cover the workers had placed on top of the sign with tie-downs was coming loose, and exposing the offending sign with Peña's political message below.

The calls to the city are probably beginning again as the stiff winds blow the plastic off the sign.

Peña is probably wishing he had waited until Jan. 2 like the rest of the candidates.
