CORRECTION: PETE'S SALARY NOT $220,000. IT'S 234,600.

(Ed.'s Note: Pete: We had previously told our readers that newly-appointed County Judge Pete Sepulveda was getting paid $220,000 by the county. Now we lern that his entire saalry is being paid by the Cameron County Regional Mobility.  While it is true that Sepulveda does not draw one red cent from the county, his total salary from the CCRMA is actually $225,000. Additionally, he also receives a $800 monthly auto allowance that adds an additional $9,600 to his annual take to give us a grand total of  $234,600. County sources tell us the altruistic Sepulveda volunteered to forego the $70,000 county judge's salary being paid to former county judge Carlos Cascos.
According to the Texas State Comptroller, of 149,160 state employees, only 91 make more than $225,000. Four of these top earners are regents with the UT System. The Chancellor makes $500,000. The state employee median salary is a paltry $38,888. Among Cameron County elected officials, only Tax Assessor-Collector Tony Yzaguirre comes close averaging about $93,210. But that's peanuts compared to what Sepulveda's assistant county administrator now makes after he was named interim county administrator. That's right. Little David Garcia has been upped to $180,000, all of it drawn from four different departments in the Road and Bridge Fund. To some of us it seems a little incongruous to have a county judge that is not paid by the county and not accountable to the four other county commissioners whose combined salary don't equal his. even Garcia at $180,000 makes as much as all four combined [$45,000 X 4= $180,000]. Does anyone see something wrong with this picture?)

Bureaucracy at it's worst. We will need a hell of a good candidate to come in and clean house. Someone who will implement fair hiring practices. One job per person and it should be a qualified person. These fucking fat heads are a shame and a big waste of money.

Fyi folks your new county judge when he was city manager in pharr texas created a major financial blunder that almost cost that city to lose their international bridge, he quietly resigned and left town to cameron county. Ha ha. 300 city employees were let go or given pink slips to make up for this financial disaster. Juan you need to investtigate this i dont want our county to go down this same financial blunder pattern and then we the taxpayers end up footing the bill like always. He is not a smart person.
