Sofia Benavides will continue to be the Precinct 1 Cameron County Commissioner. (Congrats, Sofie)
Abelardo Gomez will remain Pct. 2 Constable. (Take a break, Pete.)
The voters have spoken.
Like it or not, this is what we have to live with for the next four years.
Out of 189,784 registered voters in the county, 17,596 – less than 10 percent (9.27 actually) – decided this was to be.
Dan Sanchez, Dan Robles, Chuy Garcia, Bea Rosenbaum, and Pete Avila were worthy contenders and gave it their best. Nuestros respetos.

That is a real pity. I seldom get involved in local politics, but I met Dan Sanchez and his wife at a local event and had the time to pass about a half hour with him talking about political and legal philosophies. He is a rock solid guy.
The other day I saw him standing the intersection of Alton Gloor and the Expressway during morning drive time. He was there for well over an hour with a sign and waiving. That is retail politics at it's best.
I wish him well and hope he tries again for he is a worthy fellow and I don't say that about many Brownsville office holders.
What a shame! How could anyone vote in Estela Vasquez when she admits she knows nothing about how a courtroom works and must attend classes to learn! Come on Cameron County damn! And Eddie Trevino? He was celebrating and laughing with Hooters Hinojosa last night at Cobbleheads! Sylvia Garza Perez was right in the middle of them all and posted it on Facebook for he world to see them all laughing at the voters! Damn it people when are you going to wake up and smell the rats before you vote?
The voters told Pete Avila he was too old, as they should do when Omar Lucio's turn comes around. Brownsville needs new blood. And the sooner the old geezers leave the stage, the better. Grow Old In San Benito!!!

Estela Chavez Vasquez bought her votes with paying people to push votes by saying they believed she was the most qualified candidate! I feel sorry for any person that has to stand before her as a judge! Parties better hope she attends lots of trainings to learn how a courtroom works because when she's deciding your case she may not have taken the class on that topic yet. She's the perfect example of why people need to educate themselves about candidates before casting a vote. I must applaud her spoiled child tactics and her crafty use of high dollar ads, photoshopped headshots and riding coattails that got her the victory without knowing how to run a courtroom. Also, good work at having lots of expired tags on your campaign trailers and driving them around the county without regard for the law! Damn, i don't know of any other job you can be given by throwing money at it and admitting you don't know shit about anything! Enjoy your one term as your lack of knowledge and experience will clearly make you a one term judge.

Hello Juan this one of your seven readers. This is what happened, Eddie Trevino sent Sylvia la clerk, Carlos Elizondo the one that became fire chief because he is a political prostitute, to convince chuy garcia to help Eddie instead of Dan in San benito and Harlingen and in turn Eddie would help him in brownsville. Later Chuy Garcia finds out that everyone betrayed him in brownsville, that their so call friends were actually helping Estela. Chuy don't say you were not warned ahead of time. Playing both sides doesn't pay in the end. Chuy you were played, I hope you learned your lesson.

I don't know why you say that I or any of the forementioned people assisted Eddie Treviño in his race. Far from it. In reality, we helped the best candidate, Dan Sanchez. Whatever moves you, I don't care. Personal maybe. Me resulta intrapiernoso. I think we need to work for a common goal. Whomever is at the helm. Eddie sold his soul just to win and used the United Brownsville none profit organization with Carlos Marin and consultants hired by Mike Hernandez to win, even the city manager was telling directors to help and support Eddie. So, tell me how a man of honor like Dan can overcome corrupt individuals like Eddie, Marin, Hdz, Cabler and the many who believe in winning at any cost is better than competing in a fair and transparent manner. It is obvious voters don't care to vote and unscrupulous people like capitalize on that to win. What good does it do a person to sell his soul for a title and wealth, when in the end he or her will be judged and their soul damned for those sins committed against his fellow citizens. Special elections yet another loop hole to those it suits best an not in the best interest of the citizens. Apparently the commissioners and acting judge are still getting their shares from Sanchez for them to go against the citizens choice for county judge. Let's wait and see maybe the Sanchez brothers will return as Republicans come November or either endorsed bribe. Better yet they want to secured their planning investments and compardismo staff they already have as watched dogs in the house. But to mislead the citizens to winning their votes by victimizing after demeaning and abusing tax payers general funds then secretly taking pictures of candidate hand shake then use religious proves the coward an individual can be by trying to manipulate the viewer's. By the way the mailer photo, Montoya had similar if not the same photo taken and reality who doesn't have a video and camera especially part of their phones now in days.county clerk haters last I heard Arnold Flores got fired last year from Cameron county for multiple reasons and he was the candidate that ran against our county clerk. Our county clerk does an outstanding job during work and like all those employees who rub Sanchez, Benavides, Garza and Sepulveda watch dogs securing their jobs have no room to speak. How does an uneducated become director for environmental department only through bribery but he is also the Rio Hondo mayor and county staff who endorsed Sanchez. I'm sure appointed watch dogs administration are working commissioner's to redo policy to secure their jobs as well. Mr Trevino needs to clean house or else he too will get corrupt like those already working or elected county employees. I conquer Mr Trevino girlfriend is hot, beautiful and friendly which he does not hide there is absolutely nothing to hide. Unlike Sanchez neglectful having his young child out in the heat, hot day and use his children so views will also feel bad and vote for their father. If it were our children he will be the attorney along with his brother taking our hard earn income to court for abuse and neglect for having our children out in the heat, truth just sit in Sanchez family courtroom and Sanchez brother the attorney against you. God witnessed the need for improvement in our county and new leadership that will set up and move our county forward so before you continue to judge get your information correct otherwise your ignorant because no one is perfect but God. If you notice failure in the system vote them out and elect new individuals that are willing to make change after others failed.
