LOCAL DAILY CALLS FOR POST-YZAGUIRRE REVIEW

By Juan Montoya
Today's edition of the local daily carries an editorial calling for an audit and periodic performance review of all county offices.
The daily says that even if a jury in Corpus Christi decided that the 23 counts filed against Cameron County Tax Assessor-Collector were bogus, this doesn't mean that "something" wasn't wrong there.

"The case against Yzaguirre should inspire county officials to renew their commitment to ensuring that all county offices have the resources and oversight they need to properly serve their constituents and protect their tax dollars from waste and misuse."

Hear, hear!

May we suggest that this performance review start with the office of the Cameron County District Attorney? There is "something" obviously wrong there since it is racking up a sorry record of waging expensive and ineffective selective prosecutions which seem to be motivated by something else besides suspected wrongdoing.

Or did we read too much into it that the daily not mean?

How about a forensic audit on the Herald to find out why it's such a piece o'shit?

No. It was Luis Saenz trying to get back at Tony Izaguirre for supporting Joey Lopez for District Clerk who ran against Tia Aurorita several times. Everybody at the court house knew of that feud. I smell another acquittal in the horizon.. Pete Sepulveda.. Go after real criminals Luis. Begin with investigating yourself... Loser

How about JP"s not living where they were elected to serve.

Why was defense attorney Eddie Lucio, (the one who was involved with Villalobos in the Amit Livingston case), never mentioned as Yzaguirre's attorney before the change of venue. Could it be that the change of venue was a set-up ? Why didn't Judge Hanen hear the case instead of Banales? Besides all his charges had to do with questionable car transfers not how he allowed criminals to steal innocent citizens property. In my opinion this f--- is still a criminal.

7:42 AM...Judge Hanen is a Federal Judge and the Tax Collector was charged with a Texas crime.

Luis Saenz has proven inept and partisan. He takes action to hurt his political foes....and he is losing his battle, but spending a lot of tax dollars in his losing efforts. All county offices should be audited regularly for a variety of reasons. Aurora de la Garza made sure her family had jobs in the courthouse...they may still be there. Hiring practices should be audited to make sure the best people get hired, not those whose mommy or daddy are elected officials. Of course a forensic financial audit should be done in offices of all elected persons.

set up? a change of venue-a set up? why no, eddie lucio the attorney wouldnt set this up ? no way, he was found not guilty? on all charge wow Teflon tony is clean as a whistle=if you believe that, not he is guilty and a big rat if not then Tony can you please explain to the county tax payers where all those $329K dollars that were found in your 6 private bank accounts came from and please don't say rental money and BBQ ticket money. Cant understand why the IRS would not look into these extra funds just laying around in a bank account-mmm I thought that was what the patriot act was for well never mind, business as usual in Cameron county. Tony please Don't be a liar even the children know you are not saint, we all know you as a Rat and a fink and all your ex employees know that too. Guess you learned all this stuff when you were at the city of Brownsville and just carried it over to the county-adios.

You people are full of SHIT

Man you people are full of theories and suggestions as to why Eddie Lucio wasn't mentioned as part of the defense team....For one it is none of your DAMN BUSINESS, second maybe it has something to do with Mr Yzaguirre's initial attorney suddenly bring appointed to a special position by the DA. STOP with your desperate attempt to make Yzaguirre guilty. The ones here that have further on their hands are the ones who ran the invest against Yzaguirre and hid staff.

well that is none of your damm business.

It doesn't matter how much money Yzaguirre has I the bank.Every penny is accounted for from our tax paying dollars. He has never had a discrepancy with handling our tax money. I don't give a damn how much money he has in his bank accounts. Quit deflecting from the real problem. The problem of over $625,000 dollars blown on this case...Now that's a problem. Frivolous spending such as that should be frowned upon and answered for. County Commissioners stop allowing Luis and his ego waste our money.
