TSTC, HERNANDEZ LAUNCH TEXAN SCHOLARSHIP CAMPAIGN

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

(Ed.'s Note: Originally, OP 10.33's Mike Hernandez approached Texas Southmost College to offer them a seat on the table at no cost to the college, in  contrast to Unite Brownsville which charged them a $25,000 annual "membership fee" with little to show for their troubles.

Op 10.33's initial approach to civic engagement ruffled the feathers of local politicians, perhaps none more than Dr. Anthony Zavaleta, who – like a lot of us – was led to believe that the organization was backing his opponent Evelyn Cantu.

Alas, this set Zavaleta against any involvement with Hernandez and his organization and limited the participation of the college in Hernandez's intentions of modernizing the local workforce as a strategy to up;lift them from existing poverty levels.

However, Texas State Technical College has eagerly embraced his efforts and on April 19, the institution will receive $100,000 to establish a Texan Success Scholarship Campaign (TSS)  in Harlingen. Hopefully, TSC will get an opportunity to be included in the plans in the coming months and give Brownsville students an opportunity to participate.)

Hernandez Foundation Donation Program Outline:

This event is to announce and thank the Hernandez Foundation’s $100,000 donation to the TSTC Foundation and the Texan Success Scholarship Campaign (TSS). Hopefully, despite Dr. Zavaleta, TSC can become a part of this educational program. The programs mentioned are in fields that will make our young people more employable, which in turn benefits the RGV in attracting business and jobs. Dr. Zavaleta's opposition to this program and Hernandez is reflective of his hostile and haughty personality. Dr. Zavaleta is a DICK!
