WANT TO KNOW THE SKINNY ON JOBS AND WAGES HERE? WHAT IS APPARENT, IS THAT SOMETHING IS NOT WORKING.

(Ed.'s Note: We are grateful for the wage and industry information sent to us by Harlingen consultant Desi Martinez, M.A., who was gracious enough to send us information relating to our local labor and industry situation.

We often look at this type of information in a vacuum, sometimes entirely devoid of context. If you look at the historic unemployment rates for the Brownsville SMSA, it will become immediately apparent that the area has lagged behind the state and Texas for years. Except for a few instances, it has led the state and nation in high unemployment rates.

Numerous strategies have been tried in the past, but as you can see, the economic development and educational initiatives put in place by local, state and national officials have hardly made a dent in the rates. Is it time to try something different?)

Not happening in a town over-populated by Mexicans. Too many lazy ones here, juan.

I hear that the folks at the port are working to change all of this past lost opportunity. And they are facing the Anti everythingers. The don't want this or that but they want more money and an easier life during their retirement years. GO HOME! whoever you came from and pack one or two of our local do gooders that want to keep us under their thumb. Pack 'em and take 'em with you! We might get something done with out them.

I think they are suggesting we poison our gulf fishermen and shrimpers, so that a certain turd can continue sneaking money into his pocket. Out of this deal, we will even get toxic tap water that burns your skin like they do in Corpus, or something

Is sleeping with State Rep and being promised the world as you have no job a form of prostitution? Inquiring minds want to know.

wages have always been kept low here, so that's why we have a higher unemployment rate than elsewhere in the state. Employers always try to keep the wage at a minimum rate $7.35 per hour or less if they can.

Shut up!! Admire the pretty colors assholes. I spent $500,000 on this study so someone would put different colors on this chart. I hate black and white, de-press-ing! Cost effective but so bland. I need bright colors in my life. Here you've even got pie charts with green and purple, with the 3D shading, my favorite, gives that look of expensiveness even though it's just a box that you check in Microsoft word. Your tax dollars at work babosos. I know you can't read charts anyway or you'd notice this is just describing normal seasonal employment variation of less than 2%. Who are we kidding though? You don't know what the fuck you are looking at. God I hope Carlos Cascos doesn't run against me. I'd be so fucked if Alex Dominguez ran against me. Nah. They wouldn't dare.
