COMMISSIONER'S REMARKS MAKE AP, THE NEW YORK TIMES

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — A city official in southern Texas has apologized for using a racial slur to describe two black assistant district attorneys.

The Brownsville Herald reports that multiple social media users posted audio clips this week featuring Brownsville City Commissioner Cesar De Leon. The clips recorded him using slurs and derogatory language when referring to two district attorneys working for the Cameron County District Attorney's Office.

De Leon says he's "very apologetic" for the profane language. He says the conversation was private and believes the discussion was recorded, edited and released by the person to whom he was speaking.

District Attorney Luis Saenz says he hires the most competent persecutors without regard to their race. He says De Leon's comments "are very shameful and hurtful."

From what i hear from some of my business associates in the Food Industry (Restaurants) De Leon and Elizondo are Persona Non Gratas. They may show up to partake and they'll be served but, they should know, they're not welcome. We don't condone racism at any level.

Carlos and Deleon need to go back to the "kano" mexikano land they deserve each other and take all the other squatters two.

Can a Hispanic be a bigot?????? Or, a racist???????? In this time of race baiting, MLM, Antifa, and LGBTQ.....the media hints (but does not say it openly) that only whites can be racists and that history should be re-written (A UTRGV faculty member) to take away a white historical prejudice). So, our asshole city commissioner can apologize for his bigotry and profanity because he is Hispanic and must be accommodated in our anti-white state of agitation in this country. But, we will surely remember and remind this commissioner of his racial comments when or if he seeks re-election. His language and racist rhetoric is awful and should not be condoned. Some action should be taken against him!!!!!! I don't think Tony Martinez has the huevos to take any action or even speak out against his hand-picked commissioner. The other commissioners should speak up too. If this article made the New York Times, then it won't go away and action will be expected...more than an apology. Our city continues to swirl down the moral and ethical toilet.

DA Saenz if your prosecutors were so competent there would be more convictions in the court room!!

A national embarrassment for Brownsville and its citizens. De Leon, as our elected city official, has now given the nation (through this New York Times story) the impression that racism and bigotry exists here, just as it did when the Buffalo Soldiers were stationed at Fort Brown. I call on Commissioner De Leon to resign his commission seat....not offer some pithy apology. Even if the tape was edited, his comments, and slurs seem to reflect that De Leon sees these Black ADAs as a challenge to his manhood.

Where is our dear mayor. When the shit hits the fan, he is never around. He has never demonstrated any leadership ability....will he, or can he now??

RESIGN DELEON! You are now a national embarrassment along with everyone else that was holding your hand during the tape. Screw you DeLeon for making our city look like shit in the national news! If you had a shred of decency you would step down you damn racist piece of crap.

Do you think that a guy saying the truth about browntown politics while having a beer among "friends" is a national embarrassment? So you rather keep quiet, status quo is better??? Pendejo!!!!

Anonymous said...

No San Benito sucks more. With all the ass kissing going on. O and a commissioner that takes campaign contributions from the law firm that the city attorney works for. No wonder he wants to keep the city attorney on the payroll. You can't bit the hand that feeds you. Ain't that right R.V.

The Russians set him up.

Fuck what he said about local politicians. He made racist comments and he should resign for that alone. When people say brownsville doesn't progress, it's reasons like this that it doesn't. Do you think any new businesses will want to come here knowing we have a racist on the commission? Fuck no!

Didn't we have another pendejo always using the "n" word along with many other derogatory slurs? Cris Valadez . He worked for our useless county judge (Cascos ) and was a former P.U.B. board member . Where was the outrage with that idiot? Was even caught stealing and still Cascos loved and defended him. Cesar was wrong and his words are poisonous but this is Brownsville and we have no leadership . Pure greedy and soul-less vultures .

De Leon expects food establishments to comp his meals and drinks, he once told me. "Heck, I'm a city commissioner! Déjame te digo que si no fuera por mí, la mayoría de estos changarros no estarían abiertos."

I agree with 99% of your comment. I only disagree that De Leon is his hand-picked commissioner. De Leon's predecessor, Estela Chavez-Vasquez, was but that didn't work out so well for the Mayor. De Leon runs in another circle. Even though he threw Ahumada under the bus in the recording, De Leon ran thinking Ahumada would beat Martinez. They also expected Sarkis to beat Portillo and eventually they would run Neece to give them a majority on the commission. De Leon hates Martinez and the feeling is mutual.

Cesar and Carlos, los dos "C" - cabrones, should be excorted out of town. So many people were let down, including their own families. Can you imagine how they will explain this to their children who ask, "What happened Papi? Why?" His Mercedes will probably be repossessed unless he got enough money from selling meat to BISD. Come on school board, you did it to Joey Lopez when he messed up, so now do it to Carlos. Get him out of there. Let's see if he has the huevos to show up at the board meeting on Oct. 3. Maybe Alegria could start a campaign across the street to get rid of him. Dale, gas Vato. Again, Caty se los dijo!!!!!!!

What you all ought to be embarrassed about is all the corrupt people in this town! Electing and Hiring felons, cheaters, thieves, abusers, this is
Embarrassing. The biggest embarrassment is Carlos Elizondo as Fire Chief and stealing thousands from his fellow co-workers!
Cesar Deleon using that word was a figure of speech, this is not A crime nor being racists! Many of you have used that word, does this make you a racists?
People dont deviate from What Elizondo did he stole and defrauded his colleagues. This is all a distraction Elizondo is using.

What a great shock! A Mexican called people "Ns". I guess "mayate" doesn't count as a racial slur against black people. Truth of the matter, everybody is racist against somebody else. What a bunch of hypocrites!!!

New york times?!
Wow not since we were made the oldest city in the nation and the mark killjoy slaying have we made the new York times! Now we're an all American city. Hahahahaha

Cesar de Leon himself says in the recording "I do not dare say the word, but here are "N"".

Obviously he is a aware that his words are wrong, he chose, them he prejudged himself before even using them.

So to anonymous 10:35 - he had a choice to do right or do wrong - he knew before he said it, he was going to do wrong and he did it anyways. He did it to make himself feel "bigger" because he feels he is small, he feels people see him as a "taco eater" he feels people see him as a "wife beater".

He, Cesar de Leon, has mental issues, he has insecurity issues. He will knowingly do wrong (as many others) so don't defend him, he will do wrong even when given the opportunity to do right.

He and everyone else who do as he did, need to go, need to FUCKING go away into their little insecurity village.

Think I meant poorest city in the nation

Anonymous said...

lol.... WTF!! Are you talking about. I personally know a couple of multi-millionaire Mexican investors that started talking to Cesar after this incident. Huge investments coming to downtown Brownsville

Anonymous said...

Purro plea deal esos. Just to add a conviction to their record.

Washington style political scandal in little known Brownsville, Texas with secret tape recordings of an elected official with all the trimmings and calling black Assistant District Attorneys the "N" word, plus other garbage. This undoubtedly will haunt him forever; very poor choice of words for him to have used. Now Brownsville is nationally known and not for something good. This gentleman just took Brownsville years, years backwards. The fact is he said them! Under what condition or how he was feeling doesn't matter. He said them and much more. This is indefensible, it's on tape and it's public.

Anonymous said...

Yes, I agree with post 9/22/2017 1:21pm...He knew he was wrong and still said them, what does it tell you about his "CHARACTER".

Anonymous said...

Maybe He'll just drive them to school in their Mercedes Benz ambulances. As long as they stay within the "Intercity" that is.

Anonymous said...

Lol! Okay Cesar. You're the greatest thing to happen to Brownsville. We get it.

Anonymous said...

Juan, you should do a write up on the biggest fuck ups by local politicians and ask readers to rank them.

The Abel Limas scandal
Jessica Tetreau-Kalifa beating her elderly husband
Ben Neece getting stabbed by his equally high wife
Cesar De Leon being a full blown racist
Pat Ahumada's multiple DWIs
Erin Hernandez's marriage waivers
Ernie Hernandez's buddy hiring practices
Pete Sepulveda's private road paving
Eddie Lucio being a homophobic idiot
Rene Oliveira's hit and run
Etc.

I can't pick a favorite!

We demand his resignation de leon is a racist no doubt about it

Anonymous said...

Sticks and stones...Aside from that, can anyone show racism or non-racism through actions or affiliations?

Anonymous said...

Cesar de Leon is being crucified all around the country except here in Brownsville, where it counts most.

A person doesn't need to harm someone physically through an action. They can harm them with racist words and sometimes those injuries are worse. Shut up you fool. You sound like an attorney who defends criminals. Or maybe you're a criminal yourself. Neece fits both descriptions.
