A CHILLY START IN BROWNTOWN AFTER FREEZING TUESDAY NIGHT

(Ed.'s Note: The expressways were closed and cops guarded the entry ramps to U.S. 77-I-69 this morning to stop motorists from entering the thoroughfares. And local drivers had to scrape ice off their windshields with spatulas. Warnings had been issued about freezing overpasses that might cause vehicles to skid atop the structures. The cold snap is predicted to hand around for a few days more before the warm up begins. The silver lining (or is it ice lining?) is that our brethren up in the north, Midwest and the Northeast are locked in an icebox with more cold predicted for this week.)

It sucks to find out 511 is closed once you are actually up to the overpass and are forced to go under and back to where you came from. They should just block the ways into 511 in the first place.

Life sucks. If you went back to where you came from, you should have stayed there in the first place. If providing for your security "sucks", would you prefer to be dead or in the hospital.

I didn't see a single trooper (tiqueteros) they were at the Island catching pelicans.

Did you see that UTRGV just had delayed classes, beginning at 9:00 AM? Edinburg and McAllen did the same with their school districts. But BISD was closed on Wednesday, Harlingen ISD was closed. La Feria ISD was closed. The highways were closed by police and DPS. But did the UTRGV administrators care about the UTRGV students at the Brownsville campus? Of course not. As usual, it is clear who won big time when the old UTB was merged with UTPA.

Just glad UTB is gone —completely mismanaged.
