CHANNEL 5'S RICK DIAZ: IT'S NOT CALVARY, IT'S CAVALRY

(Ed.s Note: On today's "Con Mi Gente," section by Rick Diaz on Channel 5 he featured the dedication of a prayer garden in Port Isabel's Lady of the Sea Catholic Church, he totally ignored pointing out that the church had made the common mistake of confusing the words "calvary" and "cavalry."

Writing explained.org explains it this way: "These two words are wholly unrelated, but they often get confused. Calvary is a proper noun that refers to the hillside on which Jesus was crucified. Cavalry is a group of highly mobile army troops."

As can readily be seen, the plaque refers to the horse-mounted Oblates but uses the word that refers to the hill.

Since it involves a church, it's understandable that ,"calvary" which refers to the hill where Christ was crucified would take precedence in the minds of the clergy and parishioners.

The color painting of the Cavalry of Christ was painted from a black-and-white photograph of the priests by Harlingen artist Angel Hernandez. Diaz should have known better.)

You blew it on this one, Montoya. The picture refers to soldiers who fought on horseback, which is the first definition for cavalry (related to caballo). So the picture then refers to soldiers who fought for Christ, clever use of cavalry/calvary. Andas pedo or what? Call in the calvary?

Wow, you are criticizing a man who still has the prestigious job with Ch. 5
even after retirement. He doesn't have to depend on "mordidas" from people who pay off so as not to have their name in your blog. Since you are so good at spelling, grammar and pronunciation of words, why are you still not working at the Herald and try printing all the lies and crap that you print on this blog. Remember that when we respond to your articles some of us are in such rage for the lies you tell and may types faster than the computer can print it out. Good for you that does not make any mistakes, but rest assure that I will, for one, comment from now on, on every mistake you make on your blog. I can't do anything about the lies except express my rage.
Oh, and fix your identity check to see who the robot is - only a robot would not write to your blog.
