Former Cameron County Sheriff Department administrator Charles Hoskins was arraigned Tuesday at the magistrate's court at Rucker-Carrizales Correction Center after he was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer.
Sources say the charge originated after he was at the Academy Sports store in Brownsville wearing his long-sleeve uniform shirt and asked for a law enforcement discount for a lawn chair and said he was a deputy. To his misfortune, an off-duty Brownsville Police Dept. officer was in line behind him and confronted him over his lack of law enforcement certification.
The officer then called a captain at the CCSO who then ordered Hoskins arrested Tuesday morning and booked at the county jail. He was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer.
