BREAKING: COB EMS AMBULANCE STOLEN, TAKEN TO MATAMOROS

(Ed.'s Note: Details are sketchy, but at about 8 a.m. today, law enforcement sources reported that a man  receiving medical attention by Emergency Medical Technicians at the Whataburger Restaurant at 2021 International managed to lock himself in a  Brownsville Fire Department ambulance, eluded its crew, and drove it across the Gateway Bridge into Matamoros.

No specific details on what the suspect/patient was getting medical treatment for, how he got the truck started, or how he managed to drive across the bridge without getting stopped by either the sheriff's department deputies (who weren't present), U.S. Customs, or bridge personnel.

It is also unknown how law enforcement or military personnel, or bridge authorities on the Mexican side reacted. But one of our ocho readers sent us a photo of the abandoned ambulance stopped by Mexican law enforcement on Avenida Lauro Villar miles away from the bridge. There is no indication whether the ambulance hijacker has been arrested.

Sources also say that after he crossed into Matamoros, he had been seen driving down city streets with emergency lights flashing and sirens blaring.

This is a breaking story and we will follow it as more details become available.)

This is freaking funny! Nothing surprises me anymore these days. The world is full of stupid people.

If Eric Garza would have deputies on the international bridge, they could have prevented this.

But he doesn't give a shit and neither does county commissioners court because they take no action to stop the deputies from being misused.

In the meantime, auto theft and our insurance rates are sky high.

Next time, let the ladies recording the stolen vehicle, follow the ambulance and let them detain the criminal. They faced danger but they knew what was happening: look, stolen vehicle, gunfire, detain them,.... but there was a stopped truck in front of them...and they could not pursuit the criminal. Ladies #1.

The criminals know when is the best time to attack the USA. Early morning, Late at night, freezing temperatures, hurricane weather, Holidays etc

The Government has to think like the criminals but do not hire criminals.

Officers can not cross into Matamoros, they will be arrested and then they will be fired by the American authorities.

Hopefully, the ambulance will be returned to Brownsville. Mayor Cowen and the City of Brownsville have solid working relations with Matamoros authorities.

Did anyone get a glimpse of CARLOS ELIZONDO driving the ambulance over the border?
