This situation has deeply affected Commissioner Gustavo De León… and because I truly care about him and his family… it hurts me to see what they are going through…
He stated that he will be laying low for a little while… but he will be back!!! We need Commissioner De León in office… we need leaders who listen to the people and treat the community with dignity and respect…
He has been the only commissioner who continued communicating with me after the elections… He didn’t have to do that… but he did… It was also reported that he met with Yolanda, aka Yoli Speece, and with the city attorney…Did you know that??? Well, now you know.
We will soon be holding a town hall meeting with Commissioner Gustavo De León… He wants to hear directly from the community about the needs and concerns of District 3… but everyone in Brownsville will be welcome…
His responsibility may be District 3… but his willingness to listen goes beyond district lines… because the decisions made at City Hall affect all of Brownsville…
This town hall is about transparency… community input… public safety… and giving the people a voice…
Commissioner Gustavo De León… take the time you need… Brownsville will be waiting for you… stronger than ever!!

Victoria Sanchez is a made up person, her name is Dorothy Lee Sanchez and she was involved in a murder in 2013. Recently she had a meet up with De Leon, a coffee if you will, and he has somehow now persuaded her to see things through his point of view. It’s very simple, you don’t sue the city you represent for $1 million dollars while sitting as an elected official. De Leon you’re still a scam artist.
I don’t care what they say or how bad they try to make this look—it’s pure, Grade-A hogwash. Apparently, some folks think a sitting, duly elected City Commissioner is supposed to put his personal life on hold and spend 24/7 sitting in City Hall, staring at the walls and waiting for something to happen.
The reality is that these Commissioners have personal lives and responsibilities to the City. This Commission is proactive—maybe sometimes too proactive—but I’ll take that any day over a bunch of politicians sitting around twiddling their thumbs, collecting a paycheck, and waiting for the next problem to solve itself.
At least this Commission is doing something. And apparently, that’s what really bothers some people.
Give the mayor credit, he meet with Yolanda 3.5 years ago and she still couldn’t come to an agreement with the city, you’re late to this party.
That’s fine be proactive, but don’t sue the city you represent for $1 million while on the job. He could have had the mess cleaned up and called it a day…. But no, he was obviously reaching for money.
