WILL THE REAL JUAN MAGALLANES STEP FORWARD?

By Juan Montoya
Where did Juan Magallanes, Democratic candidate for 357th District Court judge graduate from law school?
If you go to the Texas Bar website, texasbar.com the information there indicates that he graduated with a J.D. in Jurisprudence from the University of Texas in 1980. Texas is recognized as a top law school in the country and visitors to the site often consult it to determine a lawyer's credentials.
But someone pointed out that on his campaign website, Magallanes lists another school – Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law '80 – as the place from which he graduated.
Now there is a world of difference in the ranking of both schools. And the State Bar site accepts the lawyer-submitted education history from attorneys and takes them at their word that the information is correct. The Thurgood Marshall Law, when compared with nine other major law schools in the state, is ranked dead last while UT Law is at the very top.
Was this an oversight on part of the Texas Bar or was it a deliberate attempt at deception? Or maybe he graduated from both schools in the same year, perhaps?
This is the content on the Texas bar website:
Firm:

University Of Texas 05/1980 Doctor of Jurisprudence/Juris Doctor (J.D.)

And this is the content on Juan's FaceBook page:

Just another Dumbokrat....trying to buff his resume by "deception". He is holding to the low standards we expect of Democratic candidates in Cameron County. And his mentor....Gilberto Hinojosa. Why should we be surprised.

Magallanes would not make a good Judge even if the Democratic party in all their good wisdom would like to have a Democrat on the bench. Magallanes is and will be contaminated by his ex=partner in Gilberto "Hooters" Hinojosa. Its bad enough that the Democratic party put up some very questionable candidates for November in the likes of Robert Lopez and with current office holders like Abel Gomez, Tony Yzaguirre and Joe Rivera. The FBI came in and cleaned house of corrupted Democrats and missed a couple but now the likes of Magallanes and Lopez come into play? Cameron County voters! Vote for the one you truly believe will represent the county in an honorable fashion and not for the selected few.

Texas Southern in Houston was during the era of Jim Crow an all black school and was founded as such. They started a law school back in the early 60's, but there were very few blacks enrolled. It was primarily whites who failed out of other law schools or could not meet the admission standards of white law schools. It was described to me in the mid-60's as a "remedial law school" by the dean of the school.

Jim Crow is long dead and Texas Southern is integrated, but it still is a place where folks go that cannot get into other schools. Their law school is a joke. Many of our local politico lawyers are graduates from the place.

Do not confuse Texas Southern Law School with South Texas Law School also in Houston which is a good quality school.

by dead last you want to say that is not accredited? or you are just trying to bring down a good man with an education because it is not equal in your eyes to another school. As far as I know it is not the university or institution that makes the student, It is the individual it self with hard work and perseverance.
I might be incorrect..... NOT!
You have looked up and down to try to find all the wrong within magallanes Not realizing that as a person We are sure he has good qualities.
