FAMILY, 93-YEAR-OLD MOTHER, AWAIT JOE LOPEZ RELEASE

Special to El Rrun-Rrun
For 11 years, the family of Tejano star Joe Lopez – expected to walk out of a Huntsville prison today after more than 11 years behind bars – have waited for him to come home.

And, said his brother Raul, a local bail bondsman, none more so than Lopez's 93-year-old mother who has waited all those years to see her son again.

"She's 93 and she has waited all this time to see Joe again." Lopez said. "It doesn't matter what other people think of him, it's her son."

In 2006, a Cameron County jury gave Lopez 32 years in prison for sexually assaulting his niece, Krystal Lopez, in 2004, when she was 13.

The family has said Lopez was convicted based on DNA and other evidence fabricated by then-Cameron County District Attorney Armando Villalobos, himself serving a seven-year sentence for bribery and corruption. They say the singer will eventually be exonerated.

He was sentenced to 20 years for one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child, eight years for a second count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and four years for indecency with a child, to run concurrently. As a result, he had to serve the longest 20 year sentence in prison.

Lopez will walk out of prison between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Raul Lopez said one of his brothers will be there to meet him an bring him home to Brownsville.

The singer – now 67 – was granted parole Jan. 26, but only after he served a  nine-month sex offender treatment program. Upon his release, he will undergo “supervised parole” through Oct. 31, 2026. The parole board has ordered him not to contact Krystal Lopez nor enter Harris County, where she lives, without prior approval.

Relatives say that that while incarcerated Lopez has written hundreds of songs and that he intends to beak back slowly into his former career.

"For now we're just thanking the Lord for his release and want him to come home," said Raul Lopez. "Our mom has been waiting for a long time and we're happy that she will see him again."

Did someone tell Krystal to stay away from Joe. Girls are infatuated quickly with a beautiful guy and the dummies fall for that, knowing that it is wrong and that the girl will turn him in as soon as she does not get what she was going after. It takes two to tango, but since we adults should know better, let it be a warning to all who get hot inside their
pants. There are plenty of Viejas who will serve the same purpose for a nickel on 14th street. Leave the young kids alone cause they don't know how to keep secrets. Welcome home Joe and may you stay close to your Mom for many more days. She has faithfully waited for you. Don't be a fool again and lets us hear some of your fantastic music soon. Volvio, volvio,
Joe!

Lol dude was already old, what are you taking "beautiful". The real issue is that people feel compelled to obey powerful or magnetic people, like a famous musician. This influence can be capitalized on for sex, even if the target is a minor. I've seen my share of this bad behavior myself. That behavior is wrong and your passing of the blame to the minor victim is proof of how rape culture continues to proliferate in these times.

The scenario you describe is disgusting and you should hope your child does not fall into the same trap.

Now I know why this country is so fucked up! You have these idiots who only believe what the media puts out or from the gossip tree. To you idiots who really believe that Joe was innocent? I got a country that I could sell you, pendejos and pendejas! Joe was found guilty and the appellate courts confirmed the conviction. Joe also admitted to committing the act prior to taking those parole classes which was a requirement. Yea, yea, he wanted out of prison SO he admitted it. Well, if he was so innocent THEN why wasn't he vindicated during those eleven years? Because, HE was guilty!
But with the mentality in this Valley, its okay to father children with minors, huh! Now, you can be part of the ignorance that run rampant in this USA! Glorifying convicted felons and keep stuffing money in their pockets. Well, you better because Joe hasn't paid child support for that child in San Antonio for eleven years. Joe will be back in jail if and when that mother files non-support. She didn't want to testify against Joe back then in the Punishment trial because she knew she'd lose support. Unless the family has been paying? Oh well, Joe is out and a registered sexual predator, so enjoy!

As a former prosecutor of this case, I know for a fact there was no evidence fabrication. The DNA was solid. He raped his own family member at age 13. He served the time, but remember it’s the victim who has to live the rest of her life with the horror. A jury of his peers rightfully held him accountable, and he tried and failed to appeal his sentence multiple times. At least he served a part of that 32 years, the judge could have run each count consecutive, otherwise he wouldn’t be out for another 5 years, he got lucky to see the light of day again.

Well Mr. Former prosecutor of this case...you say there was no evidence fabrication. who was you boss???
What did he get charged with??? Where is he now??? wasn't he out to get the singer for a refund being denied for a deposit of $2,000. You are either too blind or just plain stupid to admit, Mr. Villalobos was out to get him and i wouldn't be surprised Leonel was in on it too? BTW, what ever happened to him??? Oh yea, he got out like Mr. Cabler. Just in Time

He can confine his singing to the shower for all I care. Stay out of trouble Joe. At your age, you should not have any trouble keeping your dick in your pants.

Every stupid prosecutor in this county sucks!!
You all fabricate the cases, yes you do!! However, the judges get in it as soon as you show them the money , remember calabazas ??

You guys are funny, supporting a child molester. I hear that he's starting a new tour soon, "Toca Me Las Una Vez Mas" (touch it for me one more time, or is it play it for me one more time I get confused). Its gonna be great. All of his grandes exitos, maybe even more grand than his temporary exit from prison.

Reading the comments on here shows just how pervy some of his supporters are. "Leave the young kids alone cause they don't know how to keep secrets." - This is really fucking disgusting. How bout you don't have sex with kids because its illegal? Find a vieja susia your age to go to pound town on cochinos.

Those of you who claim the evidence was fabricated and people were bribed, where's your proof?
Your argument: The Bronsbil PD officers must have been paid off to help fabricate evidence. 12 jurors came to the conclusion that he was guilty so they too were paid off. He lost his appeals so the appellate judges were paid off too. See how fucking retarded all of that sounds? No one could keep a secret for that long especially here in Bronsbil. There are too many loose ends to control with jury trials. But Villalobos is in prison now! Yes Villalobos screwed up and is doing time but his crimes came from providing favorable pleas in exchange for kickbacks.

Enjoy your time out of the pinta Joe "el manaco" Lopez. Keep your nose clean, you've been given a second chance.

How can you take the word of a crooked DA Armando Villalobos, It is a toss up between him and the Black Mamba Rene Oliviera who is the most crooked, but Ren'e The black Mamba is still to be caught.

He was tried by a crooked D A Armando Villalobos, he was so bent he even screwed himself. He was lucky that all his cases were not thrown out.

Una idea

Bartolinas de la cárcel,

cuartos con cuatro paredes,

donde encierran a los hombres,

por culpa de las mujeres.

todo el mundo a bailar
todo el mundo en la prision
corrieron a bailar el rock

Carcelero, ábrame la puerta
Que esta jaula es para locos
Aquí estamos todos juntos
Creyendo que estamos todos solos

Armando Villalobos was a thief and a crook, I hope they connect him to more crimes in the future, then he can get more jail time.
