HISTORY WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT IF...

By Juan Montoya

Looking at the Arizona mess from a distance, we were reminded of a work of genuine cartoon art by our dear friend Joaquin Rivera back in 2001 or so. Joaquin, who graced the covers of the old Crossroads and Rio Delta Times weeklies, was, and still remains, the king of satiric caricature as far as we're concerned.
After he left us he went on to work for ad agencies that did the work for the Lopez Supermarkets, local chamber of commerce organizations, and other commercial ventures.
He did well enough in those endeavors, but we still chuckle when we come upon some of his work in the area of political cartoons. We will share some of these with you as we continue to publish this blog. Believe me, you'll relish his talent, just as we did, and still do.
