FAMILY MATTERS...A BIRTHDAY GREETING TO MARISOL

By Juan Montoya
The little girl pictured at right turned seven just this last weekend.
Marisol Isabel (a Hudson Elementary Coyote, by the way) spent the day breaking a pinata, eating pizza and cake and trying on the new duds her mother got for her on her special day.
Friends came over and took her to the Gladys Porter Zoo, one of her favorite places.
Already an A Honor Roll student in first grade, she also won the school's Cody Coyote Character award.
So it shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone that she has a take on the animals in the zoo. She told her parents that some of them looked sad and wondered if the reason was because they really belonged in the wild with their families.
"Wouldn't they be happier if they were with their mother and father and their brothers and sisters?" she asked.
After it was explained to her that some of the animals are endangered and that sometimes the only way to save them was to protect them in a zoo, she relented.
Happy birthday, Marisol!

all your kids are honor roll kids.... Of all the awards..the cody character award is the most difficult to earn...and you should be a very proud dad! I know I am very proud of Marisol! I'm glad she had a great day!
