HARLINGEN OFFERS AMNESTY ON FAILURE TO APPEAR FINES

The City of Harlingen will be holding an amnesty period for the payment of fines in its Municipal Court. During this amnesty period, the Municipal Court will dismiss the Failure To Appear Fee on defendants who have failed to appear before the court. The amount dismissed for the Failure To Appear fee may be up to $201.50. To qualify for the amnesty, the defendant must (1) appear before the court in person or in writing during the effective dates of amnesty, and (2) enter a plea of “Guilty” or “No Contest”, and (3) pay all fines and fees in full immediately. You may still be eligible for Amnesty even if you cannot pay the fines and fees immediately. You will have to personally appear before the Municipal Judge to see if he will give you time to pay the fines and fees. The Amnesty On Failure To Appear Program will be effective August 1, 2010 through August 31, 2010. For more information on the Amnesty On Failure To Appear Program, contact the Harlingen Municipal Court at 1018 Fairpark Blvd., Harlingen, TX 78550, or call (956) 216-5121.
