Brownsville
Another request for money for the Sports Park.
Haven't we taxpayers paid enough for this fiasco?
The Sports Park is almost out of the City of Brownsville, and is used by a mere fraction of the population.
No access to the Sports Park exists but for heavily traveled roads, certainly not for bicycles or feet.
I naively thought the quarter-cent sales tax increase that I voted for would be used for the quality of life for the entire city.
Was I wrong!
City Commissioners, why not admit that a huge mistake was made in the creation of the Sports Park, and in turn sell it to private investors.
Brownsville is one of the poorest cities of this size in the United States, and can not afford to pour more money into the black hole that is the Sports Park.
City Commissioners, begin to truly examine what would enhance the quality of life for all in the city.

"why not admit that a huge mistake was made int he creation of the sports park..?"
I can just hear Charlie Atkinson's response, "Because then the terrorists will have won."

The sports park is a reflection of the small thinking of the commissioners in Brownsville. Every commissioner wants to spend money on parks, but they don't seem to understand they are supporting "money pits".....lots of costs, no return. The Brownsville Sports Park is a reflection of the small mind of Charlie Atkinson....and we need to add Anthony Troiani to that list of short sighted leaders. They pander for votes....there is no real leadership. Rick Longoria is another panderer....no leadership skills at all....stupid gene reigns supreme with him. Castillo has no clue...he has never had an exercise regime in his life. Seems like Rose Cowen has given up.....no balls. Melissa Zamora was a mistake from the git-go.....she doesn't have a clue. Ahumade....just a city clown, and in the future he will surely have to rely on the soup kitchens to feed himself. What a bunch of "bed bugs".
Its a "macho" move by commissioner Atkinson that has neither brains nor brawn. He talks a good game, but like the Brownsville football teams...all hype and no wins. Its all an ego factor from the past glory and Atkinson is caught up in it. The city is swirling down the toilet and the sports park is just another losing enterprise; like the city owned golf course....that sucks the tax dollars away from revenue producing projects.
A SPORKS PARK... Damn Rigth, Only the Indians can stand all this Hellish, satanic, demonic and Devilish Heat From This Uncivilized and Uncultured Rancho Grande ValLey - A Federal Indian Reservation and Castouts Refuge !!!
Now "Charlie's Sports Fiasco" may face litigation because the city failed to fence the ponds. Whether drainage, fish, fun or frolic, the city didn't abide by its own requirements for home owners to fence the water hazards. No need to ask if Charlie's surprised.....everything seems to suprise Charlie's little tiny brain. He and his cohorts on the city commission must accept blame for creating this money pit....maybe the pond was a place to throw the taxpayers money. In this time of recession, the city needs to invest wisely...but then "wise" is an unknown four letter word for our "non-leaders" on the city commission. We could probably get better and more effective policy from Roman Perez, Fernando Ruiz, and Rev. Resendez.
We happened to be browsing the TV channels this week and tuned to Channel 12 to see what was going on in Brownsville. Charlie Atkinson, dressed in a football jersey was at the sports park interviewing teens participating in some sore of football prep. Atkinson should never be given a microphone....he should be censored. He has a tough time speaking clearly and he seems to think the sports park and its programs are all his. As a representative of the city, he surely made it clear that he supports some schools and teams over others in town. At least he didn't have a Mexican flag on his shirt.
(He has a tough time speaking)
On top of being a drunk and an imbecile. Somebody, a family member would be my choice, should commit him to an insane asylum. For the rest of his life.
