Even though a local blogger is calling on Cameron County District Attorney to convene a grand jury to seek indictments and the removal of Brownsville Independent School District board president Catalina Garcia -Presas because she has retained the legal counsel of John Barr, of Dallas-based Burt Barr & Associates, LLP, the result will probably be that he will be ignor
ed (as he usually is) and he will continue fabricating his paranoid illusions.But his drawing attention to Presas-Garcia's hiring of Barr, who he claims is tainted because he at one time represented HealthSmart against the City of Lubbock and now represents her against former BISD Athletic director Joe Rodriguez, made us wonder just who this Dallas attorney is.
His father founded the firm in 1933 and among his clients were many Texas oil magnates, the estate of Bonnie and Clyde Barrow, and even Jack Ruby, the accused murdered of Lee Harvey Oswald, who the Warren Commission blamed for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Incidentally, Villalobos was the recipient of the BISD audit reports the district conducted on Rodriguez's annual scholarship fundraisers that found numerous potential violations of district, state and federal law and that Presas-Garcia thought it was her responsibility to make available for authorities to review.
Mando declined, and Rodriguez, through his attorney son Tony, took umbrage and sued Cata.
But back top Barr's son, John (the attorney in question here). He has been named as one of Texas Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly Magazine in 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, AV rated to the top 3 percent of lawyers by Martindale Hubble in 2009, AM best approved lawyer defense counsel and best company in 2005, one of the top four best injury defense lawyers in Tarrant County Fort Worth, by Texas Magazine, selected by Peers 2001 as top defense lawyers in
Tarrant County by Bar Association, and Ft. Worth Magazine named him as one of the top defense lawyers in 2001.
He was also board certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocates in 2000.
His firm lists diverse specialties in litigation ranging from construction defects to international insurance and products liabilities.
Among some of their clients listed are Aerocozumel, Aerolitoral, Aeromexico, Crisa Corporation,
Ford Motor Company, Honeywell, Local, State & Foreign Governments, Mexicana Airlines
Procemex, Republican Party of Texas, Republic of Mexico, Smith Alarm Systems, Inc., Vitro Packaging Inc., and even Yellow Checker Cab Company.
And now, add Catalina Presas-Garcia to that august bunch.

The fact that he has represented Carlos Quintanilla of Accion America in the past speaks well of the company Quintanilla keeps, we think.
As far as we know, Barr is no longer representing HealthSmart in Dallas, or is a party in that ongoing lawsuit with BISD. So where is this imagined conflict of interest? And if Villalobos ordered a grand jury to investigate Cat and her legal representative after he refused to look into the Rodriguez matter, wouldn't that raise some eyebrows, too?
Now, if you were the local DA, wouldn't you think twice about following the directives of an acknowledged disbarred attorney and take on this monster on a whim?

Forgot to mention disbarred attorney who also got kicked out of the army and has made threats and has tried to extort everyone including Mother Teresa and the Pope, not to mention Veterans Affairs. I can't name everyone it would require a separate page.
And I'll bet the tax payers are footing the bill for this Dallas attorney. This makes a great statement for proposed Tort reform, requiring plaintiff in any litigation to pay all the bills for both sides if they sue and lose. Would stop many from bringing suit, but here its the taxpayers that pay...thanks to our BISD "trustees"....hire big time lawyers for the taxpayers to have to pay for. What shitbirds we have as elected officials.

Yes, and Joe Rod was cleared of any wrong doing by Hector Gonzales. If the reports were so damning why did not any law inforcement agency take action? Bottom line is Presas Garcia was grandstanding, has a score to settle, doesn't care that she is wasting public funds, will not prevail. and cannot admit that she is way in over her capabilities. The only wat she can walk away with any semblance of honor is to resign from the board.
The reason that law enforcement did not take action is because Springston refused to even have BISD police investigate it, covered it up and paid him $90,000 big taxpayer dollars. Caty did the right thing in exposing this thief. We all know his history it is no secret.

So Big Joe was cleared by Hector Gonzales' proclamation? I'm afraid it does not work that way. You do not clear someone just by proclaiming they are innocent. You need to provide evidence refuting the claims made against you.

Does anyone remember that Coach Joe had already been fired by BISD sometime around 1973 or 1974?
If he was fired by BISD once, how was he hired again by the same entity? Only in BISD where several have been able to escape this procedure and or policy. He has always been known as a person with an agenda of his own.
