As the finger-pointing begins to determine who was at fault for the fire that swept through the the Brownsville Independent School District's James R. Murphy Fine Arts Center Saturday night, Brownsville firefighters are scratching their heads and asking who in blazes decided to turn on reset the electrical breakers after they had disconnected them.
The BISD had called firefighters to the center at 5:40 p.m. Saturday after employees told supervisors that noticed "flickering lights and popping noises." When firefighters arrived, they used an infrared meter and after about 45 minutes then turned off the power and left.
When the BISD's electricians turned the power back on the fire broke out in earnest and the damages to the building were incurred as a result.

Luckily, there were no injuries.
Witnesses told the local daily that at one point flames could be seen leaping from the roof.
The building sustained heavy smoke and heat damage and "moderate to major" water and fire damage, firefighters reported. The fire apparently started at a junction box in a room adjacent to the building’s main electrical room in the middle of the building, he said.
Now firefighters are wondering why BISD personnel – after knowing that the danger of replacing the breakers existed – went ahead and put on the breaker once more triggering the fire.

"En que cabeza cabe?" asked one. "Now they're going to try to blame us for that."

It's Zayas and Cortez's Fault....There you go Quintanilla and Presas-Garcia.....I did it for you.
The problem with heating elements and breakers was common in public buildings during last week's freeze. Two city museums suffered similar problems, but without fire damage. Seens that the city never really inspected these systems in City-owned buildings. In one case, the heating system isn't wired according to the blue prints....in a relatively new building. Instead of providing hurricane money to repair damages in historic buildings owned by the city, the hurricane money seems to have been allocated to the Sports Park....to salve Charlie Atkinson's ego. The city has put all its financial eggs into the Sports Park and has let historic buildings suffer.
Sorry but we only blame Zayas and Cortez when they take cookies from the cookie jar.
