It's not a Rodrigo Moreno planted poll.
Nor is it one performed by an advertising agency paid for by any particular candidate.
Rather, in a poll performed by NewsCentral 4, commissioner Edwardo Camarillo has emerged as the early front runner in the race for Brownsville mayor.
Those in the race to emerge as the candidate to pick May 14 (and the potential runoff a month later) are current Mayor Pat Ahumada, Michael "Mike the Builder) Garza, Camarillo, Evaristo "Viro" Cardenas, and high-stakes personal injury lawyer and businessman Tony Martinez.
Everyone is out beating the hustings, but even though Martinez invited the Action News 4 to cover his block walking, it is well know that he has probably the biggest paid team of any candidate.
"Block walking and personal relationships I think that's what campaigns are all about," Martinez coyly told the news crew.
But unfortunately, even though it's hard to believe (or even imagine), it is the portly Camarillo with his volunteers racing ahead of the pack and racking up the early numbers.
The NewsCentral results revealed that of almost 300 votes cast in the informal poll, Camarillo racked up 45 percent followed by Martinez (35), Ahumada with 11 percent, Garza with 7 percent, and 2 percent for Viro Cardenas.
With almost two months left in the race, we're still to see the formidable Ahumada pull out all the stops to narrow this apparent lead. Now, we know that about the only time in the past that Martinez has knocked on any door has been to deliver a subpoena in one of his million-dollar lawsuits.
If Ahumada block walks, people probably will hide their dogs lest he "rescues" them from their owners and carries them off in his reusable blue bags.

Channel 4 is not a credible polling agency. If their polling is as flawed as their news....then all this is bullshit. Of course, Edward Camarillo surely fits a Channel 4 profile....fat, naive, inexperience and giving away prizes to get people to watch their news.
We can't trust Channel 4 News and we surely can't trust their political polling.

Channel 4 sells ads, it is not a credible journalistic forum. My guess is that if the health department visited Channel 4....they wouldn't pass the "Dirty Dining" criteria.

LOL at the part of the best paid campaign team... word on the street is Martinez gave his secretary, Sylvia, the lady who got fired from OFA for taking money from Martinez to pay people to pretend to volunteer for Obama. So she took more money from Martinez to hire campaign staff for his mayor race, only when people ask for jobs, they are told it is "volunteer only"
Tony is a good guy, but he surrounds himself with the wrong people, and he is dumb about money, if he lets his own inner circle steal from him like that. Could that be why he lost Breedlove and Rodriguez? Paying all that dough, but the voters never saw it, his trusted comadres kept it all.
