IS CAMERON COUNTY DA ALSO OF INTEREST TO THE FEDS?

By Juan Montoya

Virtually anyone with any ties to disgraced former 404th Ditrict Court judge Abel Limas is under the federal magnifying glass.
Whether it's his former bailiffs, his gophers or his preferred ad litem attorneys, everyone is hearing footsteps.
No one – whether it's Cameron County District Clerk Aurora De la Garza to local attorneys or others identified as Persons (A,B,C,D, E, F, ad infinitum?) – is sleeping well nowadays.
Now we understand that even the county's top law-enforcement officer, District Attorney Armando Villalobos, is what the feds call in their parlance a person in which they have a "high degree of interest."
Why would the government be interested in Mando so much?
Could it be because of his lengthy association with Limas? In fact, Mando was awarded the position of Public Defender for the 404th Judicial District Court by then-judge Limas.
"No salia Mando de alli," recalls a courthouse source. "Limas chose him as his public defender over others who were more experienced."
While a district attorney, Villalobos saw many of the cases now being combed over by federal investigators assigned to the 404th by the office of District Clerk Aurora de la Garza.
One of the of most notorious involved the murder of 32-year-old Hermila Hernandez, whose body was found October of 2005 near a South Padre Island beach. Amit Livingston, a man she met on the Internet and with whom she had had a brief affair, was convicted of killing her after she "pushed his buttons" and "insulted his manhood" during one of their meetings.
After his conviction, court records show that Limas allowed Livinsgton to go free for 60 days after defense attorneys reached a deal with prosecutors, including District Attorney Armando Villalobos, at the killer's sentencing.
Limas granted defense attorney Greg Gladden’s request for the grace period before his client was to surrender and begin serving his sentence, without an objection on record from either Villalobos or First Assistant District Attorney Chuck Mattingly.

In later accounts, Villalobos said that the hearing had been held in chambers and that Limas had issued his ruling regardless of his objections.

Shortly after the plea agreement was made in Livingston’s murder case, Limas divided the $500,000 cash bond between Hernandez’s children and their lawyer, Eddie Lucio of Dallas.
Lucio, Villalobos’ former law partner, was dealt in because he filed a parallel civil wrongful death suit against Livingston, attaching the bond money as settlement for Hernandez’ death.
Others say that the treatment afforded District Clerk Aurora de la Garza's son Joey after he pleased guilty to embezzling more than $80,000 from a hospice in Olmito by both Limas and Villalobos is also of interest to federal authorities.

In that case, Sheriff Omar Lucio did not arrest de la Garza, and his case was assigned by his mother to Limas' court where he was arraigned, found guilty and sentenced to pay retribution and placed on deferred adjudication in the space of half an hour on a Friday.

Joey de la Garza did not spend one night in jail but was released after having been booked and fingerprinted at the Rucker-Carrizales County Detention Center not far from the hospice that he victimized.

And local observers still recall that after the truck bridge debacle at the Brownsville Navigation District where $21 million disappeared without a bridge being built, Villalobos garnered a $1 million payoff from Dannenbaum Engineering firm with the promise that it would go toward law enforcement. In return, Dannenbaum and its officers got a clean bill of health from the DA's office. It is unknown whether any of the money ever was made available to the Port of Brownsville.

"It only make sense that the actions of the top law enforcement officer in the county would come into question since he was in the middle of these cases," said he source. "Wouldn't you have questions, too?"

WISH WE ALL HAD THE MONEY AND CAN RETURN "FAVORS " TO PAY FOR MR. VILLALOBOS LUCRATIVE IGNORANCE. HE WILL GET HIS DAY REGARDLESS. MANY OF THESE CASES WILL HIT THE COUNTY SO HARD THAT THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PAY. MR. VILLALOBOS IS AWARE OF THAT. ALL OF THESE CLOWNS BEING ROUNDED WILL CARE MORE FOR THE MONEY THAN LIVES AND JUSTICE THEY RUINED.

QUIT WHILE YOUR AT IT. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR.

Armando Villalobos has played ball with the corruption of the Cameron County Democratic Party thoughout his tenure as DA. He ran as a Democrat alongside of Conrado Cantu...if you remember, every time you saw a Conrado Cantu campaign sign, next to it was one for Mando. After elected he hired back all the attorney's fired or forced to resign under his predecessor, Yolanda de Leon. So, he stocked his office with people "beholding" to him. As DA he refused to prosecute other politicos in the Democratic Party...beholding to Gilberto Hinojosa for his job. Armando should be a "person of interest" in local corruption; along with Aurora de la Garza whose son stole over $150,000 (after the dust cleared) from a hospice. Joey could be a poster boy for the Cameron County Democratic Party....they steal from the living, the dying and even the dead. Hopefully Joey's case in Limas' court will be reviewed and possibly re-tried. But, in Cameron County there is no judge that isn't "touched" by Aurora and the corruption of the Democratic Party of Gilberto Hinojosa.

Armando seems to think he can be a U.S. Congressman. Let's hope his status as a "person of interest" ends up in an idictment and takes him out of the running for any future public position. Armando Villalobos is a certifiable DICK!

No telling how many other attorneys are involved who have abused their law licenses to the degree of the fraud exposed by the federal government and its a red shame in Cameron County to have the Democratic Party Chairman, Gilbert Hinojosa, play a big part in making sure these corrupt disgraced judge and district attorney get into office, or aren't all these lawyers part of the corruption the Democratic Party has become in Cameron County? Of course they are and for too long, Gilbert Hinojosa and all his buddies including those who made sure Limas got into office like the attorney who is so rich he could buy off the old city jail now wanting to be mayor, what do these lawyers think? That they would never get caught? Or is the Democratic Party so in control of this County that they are above the law?

I am shocked at what has transpired in our County over the greed of elected officials we put on the bench, and for too long Aurora De La Garza has been operating without oversight, as well as the judicial benches, who have the Judicial level to themselves running it like the worse racketeering place in Texas, and than god the Feds are here to expose all these frauds, who for too long have operated in violation of laws of our country or what was Gilbert Hinojosa and his clan thinking when they fiercely protected the disgraced Conrado Cantu? and fiercely fought to place on the bench a corrupt ex judge limas who ran for the purposes of serving his buddies in violation of the laws of a judicial bench?

I hope Cameron County sends out a message to all these corrupt frauds from Limas to Villalobos to other Judges who might be doing the same thing, that no longer will this County be a safe haven for the illegal acts at the judicial level assaulting the due process rights of the Court procedures without the assistance of fraud as so has been the case and the list of lawyers keeps growing.

Its truly a shame that "500,000.00 in bail money was distributed the way it was and more so when an ex partner of the District Attorney dealt a direct hand in helping carry out this crime of corruption, hopefully the feds will leave no stone unturned and bring to justice all those lawyers involved who thought they would bleed the bought bench for ever, and as to Jim Solis, what a disgrace and to think! that I voted for him as State Rep, I do regret my vote for Mr. Solis and anyone associated with the Democratic Party only interested in putting in office those who would serve their interests and no wonder, few people vote, now we know why, what a shame these corrupt elected officials are for our County.

Very simple, all the feds have to do is get their team to search for all the dismissals starting with all the judges in Cameron County because Limas is not an isolated case and it is now obvious that this may be an epidemic, from County Court at Law To District Courts, if the Democratic Party was involved in placing them in office, then there is concern because its been the practice of the Democratic Party under the control of another lawyer, Gilbert Hinojosa, to place in office their clique, because this is how they make their money when they have their judges they put on the bench and nobody to see them or hear them, and an ignorant trusting public thinking they are getting justice when the cases have been arranged in which monies were exchanged for special favors, defrauding justice and the law, all with the help of the corrupt Democratic Party in Cameron County. What a disgrace for the Democratic Party at the national level to have Gilbert Hinojosa as a member from a corrupt County in which he directly was involved in placing in office the fraud Abel Limas, who has disgraced our County and placed the spotlight on other judges where the feds only have to dig a little deeper to find out how many DISMISSED CASES have County Court at Law judges dismissed in exchange for favors.

Villa de Lobos brain washing abilities out of this world, he continues to do his ditty job through third parties, also trying to frame others in return for silence, and fingerprinting others and delaying sentence through special favors. The justice should send a precedent to all the corrupt legal system of Cameron County
