DID JAIME SILVA DRINK FROM JULIET GARCIA'S ORANGE KOOL-AID JAR?

By Jaime L. Silva (Former Candidate TSC Trustee Pl. 1 Adela Garza's Spot)

President of UTB seems underpaid

Editor:
Executive compensation has always captured a considerable amount of attention in the popular press and from the general public. It has always been unclear, however, if these concerns over the president’s compensation have been driven by valid interests in economic efficiency, subjective notions of fairness or a simple collective matter of envy.
Regardless of the specific reason, we know that university presidents are paid much more than the typical worker and this gap continues to grow in both absolute and relative terms, but we need to remember that most of the times you get for what you pay for.
Here in Brownsville under the direction of Dr. Juliet Garcia, how was TSC before and how is UTB/TSC now? History will tell us how TSC will be under the new board. Will we see more layoffs, more taxes, higher tuition, etc? Or a brighter future for TSC alone? I doubt the latter will it happen if no true leadership is in control.
Here are some data so the public can be informed of the reality:
UT-Austin President William Powers has a base salary of $600,600 and another $100,000 in deferred compensation and retirement pay.
Texas A&M system Chancellor Michael D. McKinney has a base salary of $533,816 and another $165,000 in deferred compensation, retirement pay and use of a house.
University of Houston Chancellor Renu Khator, who also serves as president of the main campus, earned $425,000 in base pay, plus $164,720 in benefits.
So, in my opinion she is being underpaid.

COMMENTS:
Dino X Chavez : Enrollment Comparison: UT 49,000; A&M 49,000: UH 39,000; UTB/TSC 14,000 (with about 1/4 of those registered as dual enrollment kids who are taught at their own high schools). UT has approximately 17,000 faculty and staff to be supervised.......wonder what the figure is for UTB-TSC? About 600?

Brownsville Noise: Based on this if he had gotten in he'd have given away the University. This leopard hasn't changed his spots. She's making $ 360,000 more than she should be making and she should pay money back to TSC for gross incompetence as TSC President. God save San Francisco G. Rendon, San Trey Mendez, Santa Adela Garza and San Rene Torres. Lord, please pray for the pygmies in New Guinea, amen.

Trey Mendez: (TSC trustee) when you take into account that only about 4-5,000 students are real university students, she should get 1/10 the salary. Mr. Silva's rationale was severely flawed and, in my opinion, done at the direction of pro-Juliet people who are trying to get some type of positive press to offset the positive things going on at TSC lately.
