At least two Brownsville navigation District commissioners have confirmed that George Gavito, the port's Chief of Police/Security has resigned effective today.
Gavito, hired on by the former (and late) Port Director Raul Besteiro was to make a statement to the media sometime today, but as of our posting none had been made. Repeated calls to the BND's Public information Officer Manuel Ortiz had gone unanswered until a
bout 3 p.m. today when Ortiz answered the messages left on his phone.

bout 3 p.m. today when Ortiz answered the messages left on his phone."I can only confirm that Mr. Gavito handed his resignation to Port Director (Eddie) Campirano and that Mr. Campirano accepted it" Ortiz said. "That's all I can tell you."
Gavito had been placed on administrative suspension after the port's administration received a sexual harassment complaint from an unidentified victim at the port. Ortiz said he could not comment on the outcome of that investigation and said he could only say that Gavito had resigned.One commissioner said the port would probably issue a statement in the next few days.
"He resigned yesterday effective today," said one. "I expect the port will have some kind of statement announcing his resignation."
Aside from the sexual harassment issue, some local observers say that Gavito's personal relationship with Lynn Watson, partner of Marc Rosenthal, a principal in the corruption/racketeering case of disgraced former 404th District Judge Abel Limas raises some troubling questions.

"That firm has handled many cases involving the port," wrote a commenter on the posting made in this blog about Gavito." Word on the street is that Gavito was referring those cases over to Rosenthal and Watson for nice payoffs. Dig a little deeper Juan and you will find it."
Neither the port commissioners nor Ortiz had anything to say on that matter.
Rosenthal has not been indicted or charged in federal court. In fact, he has not been identified by name in documents entered into the case by federal prosecutors.
However, the plaintiffs in a multi-million dollar settlement arising from the deaths of several paramedics in a helicopter crash in the Laguna Madre have filed a lawsuit against him seeking that he turn over his fees to them because of statements by Limas in his plea bargain package that he was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for favorable ruling by Rosenthal and his associates.
The intermediary between Limas and Rosenthal was identified as former State Rep. Jim Solis, who has already pleaded guilty to bribery and corruption charges in federal court.

I say the Austin Lawyer is working the same angle as Fil Jr the difference being Fil is working for his wife a coveted appointment to a Federal bench while the other is working in the in the name of international economic development. The same game as the BND bridge. Look behind the smoke there is something much bigger going on. Human Trafficking is a moneymaker. And the Limas alphabet pawns are just that , pawns! A few BIG Fish and a puppeteer / ventriloquist or two entertain the masses with mystery and intrigue ask Raul Bestiero and Ed Aparicio.
Word from some of the officers working under Gavito was that he nor his personal vehicle ( a fully loaded black suburban) would not be seen anywhere in or around the port for months (6-8) on end. But that when he was around, he would conduct himself as if intoxicated and slurred speach.

Now it has been said Gavito will be running for Sheriff...STOP, we already have an idiot holding that office. Well he really didnt do dhit at the port to begin with, so he would be ignorant to it. Rosenthal used the Brownsville Mexican consulate to sign cases as well. That would be an interesting investigation for someone to look into. A case involving a young man killed on SPI; family threatened with deportation by Rosenthal cronies who arrived at hospital and forced her and surviving son to sign the contract in the triage. The Rosenthal assistants drove up and left in the consulate van. And when the family fired him for barratry, Solis cut a fee deal on his behalf with the Edinburg attorney who represented the family.
Rosenthals tentacles reached everywhere in Brownsville thanks to Solis, Limas, Gavito, etc. Simply ridiculous...
