SUPER MONTOYA: THE TAIL CANNOT WAG THE DOG AT VETERANS H.S., CHEEZMOSOS OR NOT

By Juan Montoya

In the brouhaha that erupted over the suspension with pay of Veterans Memorial High School principal Acacia Ameel while the Brownsville Independent School District administration investigates the events surrounding the announcements of an incetive to make Veterans a magnet school for science technology and medical training, a few things have been overlooked.

The way things usually work in a normal school school district goes something like this: The administration studies an issue, and makes its recommendations to the school board. The board either follows the recommendations or suggests changes. The policy adopted at the end of the process is then implemented.
Now, if you are a principal at a school that will be affected by the policy, you can either agree or disagree, but you cannot ignore or change the policy on your own. In other words, the inmates cannot run the asylum.
In the case of suspended principal Ameel, it appears that she was resisting the changes suggested by the administration and refusing to adopt the new policies. Instead, there is some evidence that she actively took part in orchestrating the protest to resist the changes envisioned for Veterans.
She, in fact, considered it, "her" school.
Well, that may have been the way things were done in the past, but under the new crew at the BISD Glass Palace, things are done very differently. The tail does not wag the dog. Either Fido complies with the command, or he gets no treat.
There are many questions being asked of how things were running there. Of particular concern was the vocational-technical welding program that has caught the eye of the new super. It seems that while the $.5 million welding building where the classes are taught are void of welding equipment. Not only that, but there is no certified instructor to teach the kiddies out there the welding trade.
This has been going on not for a month or two, but for the last year.
(A reader noww tells us that the program was open for juniors and seniors only and that only Freshmen and shophmores were admitted at the school. He further saysa that the past administration under Brett Springston) ran out of money before they could buy the welding equipment.)
How could you have a welding class without equipment or instructors? Those are a few of the questions that the administration is looking for answers to.
The other, more pressing questions are just to what degree the Veterans principal was involved in orchestrating the students and parent protest when the board members showed up to explain the new policies? If it was merely to encourage the students to exercise their constitutional rights, no one can blame them for being indignant about the suspension of their principal.
But when they are encouraged to hiss and boo the board members when they tried to explain the new policies, that is over the top. After all, the voters of this district elected them to represent them to make changes and improvements in the educational system they pay with their property taxes.
To allow students or egg them on to subject them to this level of disrespect is not doing them a favor or inculcating in them the civility necessary to reach a mature adulthood.
And while we're at it, who called the local veterans at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post to spread the vile canard that the board was considering changing the name of the high school?
We spoke toVFW Commander Luis Lucio and public relations representative Al Senteno and they told us that they were unaware of the conflict brewing out at the school.
"We were just presenting the colors," Senteno said. "We do that all the time. We had no idea that anyone was thinking of changing the name. We didn't know what was going on. We did not go out there for that."
However, some people who attended the meeting have told us that Lucio did speak out against the alleged name changing as a sign of disrespect to local veterans.
Someone out at Veterans H.S. surely knows who called them to tell them the name change was in the air.
Using people who have served their country to buttress your protest by telling them a lie is the crassest kind of disrespect one can show to these men and women. And someone out at the school also knows who organized the "spontaneous" protest.
In time, we're sure, the truth will out.

Linda Castro Dragonustrotits orchestrated the whole thing with Ameel. Theyy want dirt to throw at the incumbents next election. Jim or Nena Barton have been itching for some political clout. Linda's trying to get it for them. FUCK CHEEZMEH!

Yes, I am guilty of booing and hissing. I went to the BISD meeting on my own as did other parents.

I concur that the funky bunch of convicted felons from Brownsville Cheezmeh demoralizes the reputation of our city. Linda is proud to be a convicted felon. She is nothing like her sister Melissa Castro who promotes Brownsville instead of tearing it down. Ameel is a dumb ass for following that group. Kudos to the school board for not getting intimidated. The quality of education is something the Cheezmeh should not play politics with. Shame on those heathens.

its amazing how Ms. Ameel had been fighting to fill some vacancies in critical areas and as soon as they remove her, those vacancies are now going to be filled. The administration wanted to see her fail so they could justify her removal.
Another thing, if indeed Ms. Ameel had overlooked the welding program, that is not right. However, I guarantee you every campus and every principal is guilty of overlooking one component of their school. Why are those principals not put thru what Ms. Ameel is going thru? Look at Dora Sauceda - she drove Porter to the ground to the point the school received a grant for low-performing schools, and now, this administration and supt have placed her in charge of Secondary curriculum. Any thoughts on that MOntoya? Again, tas igual que Gary Long, seems to me you work for BISD o le pones casa a la Presas. YOU bark the same tone they do.

Wow Al Senteno lying again. Has anyone told him to his face that our community sees him as a man who loves to cry wolf and then never provides proof of what he saids. That does not sound like a veteran. The freedom of speech was violated with our students and he said he did not know. Bad thing to say Senteno. What country did you serve in the miltary?

Anonymous said...

Come on your Lying Bunch of nothings. Ameel is not associated with that cheezmeh group. You are such a bad group. And Brownsville thought they had hope with this group. They are just a bunch of Presas-Garcias.

Where is your proof for all of these accusations? So she went to the board meeting to hear about changes to her school? That was it. Plain and simple. Sounds like you jumped on the Atkinson bandwagon. I give you credit for trying to make a story out of thin air. Everything you have said in this article is speculation on your part. BOORRRINNGGG! Unless you have anything concrete to write, move on to another topic.

I also hissed and booed of my own accord, no one pushed my buttons.

The welding program you are referring was for juniors and Seniors only. Veterans opened its doors to Freshman and Sophmores only. By the way, the school has only completed one year so far, not two. Guess what, BISD and the state ran out of money when they were supposed to buy the remaining welding equiptment. I have agreed with you on past topics but this time it sounds like someone is feeding you b.s. Students of Brownsville deserve the truth and your are fueling a fire that the BISD board created.

Hey Montoya, did they also tell you that Veterans gained 500 new students this year and only 5 "Five" new teachers! There are classes at the school with 40 students! Did Ameel complain? No! She sucked it up and did what ever she could and never went crying to the administration, the parents, or the Rrun Rrun! Cata is feeding you bull shit and Ameel had nothing to do in the orchestration of the protest. In fact, when they went to explain the plans to Ameel and her team, the one with all the information was Atkinson! What the F!!! Isn't she the HR bitch, I mean butch??? Who is running BISD???

Anonymous said...

Al Senteno should not be in VFW, he never left the country. Mr Lucio let him be in The VFW. Mrs. Ameel was place on suspensin by the Administration not the School Board, Mr. Montoya is the one who say if BISD will make the changes.

Linda look who is calling the kettle black. The fact of the matter is that it is retaliation by Ameel who is ticked off that her clout and lover Susana Fox got the heave ho. Dont use our Children to settle a score on behalf of your lover. Disgusting principal should be fired.

Anonymous said...

Don't forget the brother a Child fiend leading our Children. This Principal not need be placed on administrative leave she needs to be fired.

Anonymous said...

Ms. Ameel should be concentrating on making sure these kids graduate and can get a job instead ofmisleading them in her pesoanl vendetta to protect her lover Susan Fox. Sick bunch.

You mean the mess the former board majority & administration left. Why don't you ask them why they ran out of money....millions of dollars. Now our children are paying the price.

Administration, aka Rita and Sandra going around questioning why some classrooms sit empty. They say this is proof school is under utilized. How stupid - school has empty classrooms because it's missing a senior class!!! Let the school grow and it will flourish. Also, I agree that district should do more to promote architecture and government/public administration programs. There is a lot of potential in these areas.

To Anonymous at 3:02PM, I am a teacher at Porter and Ms. Sauceda did not run the school to the ground!! Get your story straight. All the high schools qualified for the grant except for veterans because their scores didn't count last year!! Ms. Sauceda was the best principal we ever had. The school had the highest number of graduates this year and all because the entire school pulled together to make sure it happened. Perhaps the reason you want to put her down is because you are still sitting in the same desk and in the same position wishing you got promoted! Sucks to be you!! Good luck Ms. Sauceda in your new position, Porter misses you very much!!!

Oh My GOODNESS Mrs. AMEEL was put on administrative leave because she accepted the students and parents requests to be in a photo. Who gave you this Foto Juan? This was an inside job, a set-up to get Mrs. Ameel out of Veterans. Come on Carl Montoya do you not see the evidence. Why else would this photo end up on the El Rrun Rrun Blog. Boy Montoya Brownsville had such hopes for you, but your failed when you reacted to this photo and put Mrs. Ameel on leave. Well hope you enjoyed for interim position. Cuz you appear to be self destruction. What? Do you not have a family or friends to help you come to reason when you have a knee-jerk reaction to the rumors you hear? Good Luck.

"In other words, the inmates cannot run the asylum."

Are you saying that BISD is an asylum? Don't say that or Cata will get angry.

Hulk.

"Cata will get angry." Who flew over the cuckoo's nest? CATA!!!

So Ameel and Susan Fox are lovers and she is using our kids to protect that worthless sits on her ass waste. As parents of these Children Ameelm needs to explain what road she is leading our Children down.

Anonymous said...

Ms. Mmeel was placed on leave because she let personal feelings interfere with the best interest of our Children. She has always been a political front first for Ruben Cortez and his campaign and then for her lover Susan Fox who proteced her, took her lunch, picked up the kids. Ameel needs to be fired instead of playing with the lives of these Children.

Anonymous said...

Who cares if her lover is Susan Fox. What about Sylvias ex lover, her tocalla Sylvia Perez? Huh? What about when they were together at Hanna and would give each other massages? Huh??

Anonymous said...

What!!! I Bet Luci and Cata wrote the comment at 4:32 pm. They have been heard to say they dislike her because she is friends with Fox. Can you believe these two women represent our district. Brownsville what were you thinking when you voted for them?????? Don't some of you remember how they use to gossip when they were BISD employees. Did you think they would change? Seriously!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Glad parents are speaking up and voicing their disgust at Cata and her idiotic friends Lucy and savedra. She thinks parents can't or don't have a negative opinion about her. Thinks parents have to be told to boo for her. That's how far gone she is. Come on parents......let's unite to get rid of this fool once and for all.

hey responder to Concerned Citizen, I AM NOT LINDA, I wish I was! Really I do.

"Ponte ropa y ponte hacer ALO productivo ..."

Put on your glasses.
Can you proofread before you post? you can not spell correctly in English or Spanish. Too bad you are too old to go back to high school.

I hope the Board makes the best decision in the best interest of our students, that is what this is all about or at least it should be, not someone's hateful ways.

"ponte hacer alo productivo..."

Creo que quiso decir haz,(del verbo hacer) algo productivo.

Bunch of dumb asses! You are like a bunch of crabs....when someone like Mrs. Ameel does well in the first year of a school being open, all you do is try to pull her down....just like that bucket of crabs in which none will ever get out because they are too busy trying to pull each other down. All of you SUCK!
