A funny thing happened on the way to the March 2012 Democratic primaries for the new congressional district (34).
Not only must potential candidates await the decision by a federal court in San Antonio to determine what the boundaries are, but also whether Blake Farenthold's District (27) will emerge in its present form. A Washington court indicated it was siding with the U.S. Department of Justice in its claims that Farenthold's district as it was designed, would dilute the rights of minority voters. Another district in West Texas also got the ax from the courts.
However, what local candidates and their supporters are worried about is what will happen now that at least three confirmed candidates have emerged (two Democrats and another a Republican) and another is on the fence so he won;t have to leave office as required by law.
On of those Democrats is one Elmo Aycock, who announced his intention to run Sept. 27. Former City of Brownsville Commissioner Anthony Troiani also announced his candidacy October 29. The fence sitter is none other than own own Cameron County District Attorney Armando Villalobos.
On the Republican side, only William 'Rusty" Faulk announced October 3. With the potential for her boss' set to include stay in Cameron County, the possibility that Texas Southmost College trustee Adela Garza will run is now in doubt.In his statement of organization faxed to the Federal Elections Commission, Troiani lists Lourdes "Lou" Costilla, as his treasurer.Costilla is related to former Democratic Party Chairman Frank Costilla. Will the party split on the issue with heavyweights like the Costillas are endorsing Troiani over Mando?
Costilla is an associate at The Law Office of Frank Costilla, L.P. Prior to joining this firm, she worked as an associate at the Law Offices of Bryan V. Reed in Chicago, Illinois, where she practiced family law, debt collection, commercial litigation and personal injury law.
Current Democratic Chairman Gilbert Hinojosa is running for the Texas chairmanship of the party and will probably not risk getting involved in this tussle.
"The wisest thing for him to do is to stay out of it," said a party activist. "He doesn't have anything to gain from getting involved with either side."

Oh no, not Costilla in politics again! Anyone familiar with local politics knows the connection between Frank and Gilberto. If not let me refresh your memory. Several years ago, Frank Costilla and Ed Stapleton were partnered up in a law firm that saw Amelia Cano, an employee in their office, get selected as the elections administrator (EA) for Cameron County. At the time, there were a multitude of very competent and highly educated individuals who applied for the position; even an applicant that had worked for the State Dept. Much to the dismay of the applicants, Gilberto saw fit to select Amelia to head the EA job. It did not take long before the dept. was turned into a mess forcing Ms. Cano to resign. If Troiani is serious about getting elected, he should shy away and not become smeared with any of the influence Gilberto and his cronies peddle.
Is there any truth to the rumor Troiani's wife caught him having sex with another man? the discovery of his gay sex activites being the reason why she cheated on and is now divorcing him? If so his candidacy is toast. Regardless who he runs against, Mando, etc. Fuggettaboutit
Troiani at least has a brain....can't say the same for Villalobos. Troiani has been getting around town and working as a volunteer in several organizations. He is campaigning. Villalobos is a ghost around town aand fails to show up at most events. Villalobos has kissed Gliberto Hinojosa's ring for many years and assume the same these days. My money is on Troiani.

whether there is truth to troianis sex life is nobodys business. I think that people have become very nosey especially in cameron county. Who cares who troiani might have slept with. Look at Clinton. How many women did he fondle n F*****. Did that matter to the people. No. He is seen as the most wonderful president in history. Yea sure. N you have all the other politicos in Cameron County who have had their share of flings n are still in office. Thats besides all the corruption that is occuring in our county. People need to stop making up stories and stick to the real facts. That isnt fair to any candidate. We can start naming our Elected officials who have had maritial infidelities beginning with our D.A. candidate Luis Saenz with his secretary Mary Lou Munivez while he was D.A. Should we need say more?

Whether or not Troiani had sex with another man is immaterial. At the same time, whether or not his wife had an affair is not only relevent in the context of his divorce and what he did or failed to do that may have contributed to her seeking another man, but also whether he can be trusted to fulfill his duties as an elected official. Remember, it takes two. If he was ignoring his wife and family while he was running around volunteering in the community, then politics became his mistress long before she chose someone to fill the void he created. The character of a man is revealed by what he values. It is sad commentary on any man to value strangers over his wife and children. If Troiani can't be trusted to fulfill his basic responsibilities to his family, how can he be trusted to live up to his responsibilities as an elected official? If he can't manage his inter-personal relationships, what good is he to the public? Maybe we need to pay very close attention to the Troiani divorce proceedings before annointing him a viable candidate. If you never truly know someone until you live with them, who knows what we can learn about Candidate Troiani from Mrs. Troiani.
Troiani has a brain? Really? Even the lowliest scum-sucking parasite has a brain but I wouldn't vote for it. How about morals and integrity? That's questionable with all I'm reading and hearing about him.
