WATCHWORD IN WAKE OF BISD FORENSIC AUDIT: HEADS WILL ROLL

By Juan Montoya
Even though everyone involved in the $250,000 forensic audit that examined the Brownsville Independent School District's construction of facilities financed by a $136 million bond issue in 2006, as well as about $40 million in projects paid for through federal stimulus funds and qualified school construction bonds is keeping mum on its findings, the operational word seems to be that "heads will roll."
At the core of the audit, some sources report, is tare the cost overruns at Veterans Memorial High School which ballooned from a projected at a little over $40 million to some $62.9 million by the time the school was completed. And no one is discounting that the audit by the Dallas firm of Defenbaugh & Associates might contain the names of local residents, and possibly some current or former trustees, among a list of individuals that will be handed over to the Cameron County District Attorney and the local office of the FBI.
The audit covered ordered by a majority of the board also included the district's participation in the federal government’s E-Rate program to finance construction of computer networks and other information technology applications across the district.
As reported by Gary Long in the local daily, the audit was to cover two areas during the 2008-2009, 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years.
The board heard a preliminary findings of the audit Tuesday by representatives of the firm who told members that the final findings would be turned over to law enforcement authorities.
"Right about now, if anyone knew something wrong was going on when those monies were spent, they are probably looking over their shoulders," said a board insider.

I am weary of the "heads will roll" expression. Remember when County Judge Cascos and Mayor Ahumada stated that "heads will roll" at Cameron Works, Inc. which was under the directorship of Frank Castellanos? Whose heads rolled? Frank left for another job laughing all the way to the bank.

They will just wait it out, and the fickle public will forget, that's what will happen.

You guys are stupid if you think our DA would do anything about it.
IF....IF that was the case, he may have to start with the current board majority, and their involvement with a convicted felon, and the following DEALS which resulted after such involvement!! Does he not?

This is an election year....so no heads will roll. If any info goes to DA Armando Villalobos he will surely make sure the can is kicked down the road until he is out of office and until any results will not hurt his campaign. The Dumbokrats who hold elected office in Cameron County will not let this become an issue to distrupt the campaigns or alienate anyone caught in the trap. The County is corrupt, BISD is corrupt and BND is corrupt. Our elected officials are busy covering up the shit in our political litter box. Citizens come last on their agenda.
