Everyone in town knew that City of Brownsville Commissioner Melissa Zamora and her Elite Promotions had an inside track in running the campaign of Texas State Rep. Rene Oliveira.
But it wasn't until the campaign report for from July to December 2011 was filed that we understood just how tight the rep and the comish really were.
Oliveira's campaign report indicates that his candidacy spent no less than $57,000 with Elite Promotions for everything ranging from designing his billboard signs to Internet websites and social media pages and email marketing.
On Aug, 31, 2011, his report indicates they paid Elite Promotions $27,000 for the design of the billboards, $8,650 for the Internet work on Sept. 29, and and additional $22,525 on Dec. 1 for an extension of the billboard contract through March 6, 2012.
Now, there's no denying that billboard advertising is expensive, but our consultations with local website designers left them drooling over the payments made to Elite for the work performed. Combined with the other "goodwill" donations that the Oliveira campaign has made to local charities, it has left people wondering whether he is trying to buy his way to 30 years in the state legislature.
And now, coming on the brouhaha that resulted when a car owned by the frolicking rep and driven by a girlfriend was involved in a collision and the commissioner was reported by police appearing to intercede for the woman, the relationship is becoming clearer.
Zamora said on the Internet that she would step in for her friend anytime. Afterward, it was learned that Rene's car was uninsured when the crash occurred. We're sure that arrangements have already been made to smooth over the matter.
But something that won't be smoothed over so easily is the notice of federal tax lien that the IRS filed against Elite Promotions last Oct. 28, 2011 for $11,602 dating back to Dec. 31, 2007. Other tax ending periods where unpaid balance of assessments are listed are March 31, 2010, June 30, Dec. 31, and March 31, 2011.
First we learn that Rene didn't pay for car insurance for his car that was driven by a woman charged with DWI, and now we learn that Zamora's company is a tax scofflaw. What else lies hidden in the closet?

How much is McHale getting paid to run his ad in his blog. No wonder that McHale never has any negative things to say about the candidate. He has even stop attacking the commissioner.
Zamora doesnt own Elite Promotions. Its Santiago "the fairy" Gallarza's wife rosie gallarza
And Melissa Zamora professed the need for "transparency" in government and as soon as she was elected she fell in line with corrupters like Rene Oliviera, et al. Melissa is a chameleon...she changes color to match her paying friends. Hopefully the people who voted for her knows that she is self-serving and not a faithful public servant. Anyone associated with Rene Oliviera is surely suspect.
Not surprise at all DUMMYCRATS believe in taxing everybody else and yet they don't pay theirs. SO TYPICAL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
I blame no one else than the residents of District 3 who voted this party girl in. If she spent half the time in trying to improve this community as she does in every local bar maybe our city would be in an even standard with McAllen. People when are we going to learn to start electing mature and experienced business individuals instead of shit like Zamora and Tetreau into such important elected offices?
There is nothing wrong with Ms Zamora exercising her free-will to back whomever she wants. But, she should do the right thing and disclose that she'd is backing Oliveira because he is her client.
Personal opinion, Oliveira is a creep and slime ball who has raped the children of Brownsville by backing the UT system over the interests of locals. He has let the UT system get away with overpriced tuition at TSC and property taxes to boot. No other UT school taxes it local citizens.
both of them need to go pura shit
Melissa Zamora is nothing more than a cheap lay! She likes to wear G-strings to let that ass bounce around. Rene O. likes this kind of women since he is so "fugly" and can't get a real good looking woman to give him a piece of ass. It is sad but not surprising that the BPD or the DA Office have done nothing about this hit and run accident? But, this is the county of corruption, huh?
These two are ugly I mean homely.
Both are cheap and ghetto like.
Just two cheap mutts with no breeding or class.
Got that must suck!!!!!!!
Why don't you run for commissioner of district 3?
To anon of 6:05 PM,
Because I reside outside that district.
Last night, I made a medium-rare steak topped with bleu cheese and mushrooms. The roasted potatoes were fantastic.
On another note, useless article. Nobody pays $27,000 for the design of billboards. Way to mislead the public, you hack.
Mellissa Zamora will loose in 2012. She has pissed off too many people. There are already two well funded candidates in the mix. Plenty of ammo. P.S. Stop fucking writting anonymous comments Mellisa!
melissa you can find some one better not this oink oink guy come on
She will loose? Loose weight? Writting? Mellisa? I believe she runs in 2013. I am not a big fan of Melissa, but damn! Get you caca together before you start slamming her. Learn how to espell with Angel . The words you should have used are lose and writing and her name is spelled with one "L" and two "S".
WHO ARE YOU MR. OR MS. ANONYMOUS? Look at the pot calling the kettle black,
Stop Posting Anonymous Comments MELLISA! LEARN HOW TO SPELL.
Melissa obviously lacks character, integrity, and just plain common sense. I'm not sure why she was voted in but now we just need to ensure she doesn't get reelected. Looks like she is more about attending functions, drinking, and being "friendly" with men. When questioned, she is a mastermind of getting defensive. That is what I don't understand. How can someone choose to be a public servant and not want to be questioned? She, as well as other commissioners, are an embarassment to our city. Melissa, stop supporting scum like yourself. Get your own life in order and then maybe you can make decisions for the city.
