CourthouseNews.comBROWNSVILLE, Texas (CN) - A mother claims in court that Brownsville Independent School District did not protect her deaf-mute son from a bully who sexually assaulted him in a school bathroom - a year after the bully himself had been molested in the same bathroom.
On behalf of her son, John Doe A, Maryann Reyes sued Brownsville ISD, the BISD Police Department, several school officials and the bully "Child Defendant 1," who is also deaf and mute, in Federal Court.
"During the 2009-2010 school year John Doe A, a minor, was enrolled as a special services student at Oliviera Middle School. John Doe A is a special needs student who is unable to speak or hear," according to the complaint.
"At the beginning of the school year, John Doe A was a victim of bullying from C.D.1, who began a pattern of harassment and physical intimidation and threatening John Doe A with physical violence in the classroom at the school and on a school bus to and from Oliviera Middle School." Isn't John Shergold handling that case?
BISD is guilty of criminal negligence at the very least. They have kept all kinds of dangerous and harmful activities that occur on BISD campuses under strict cover. Many will be deeply scarred forever because of the way Drue Brown and BISD administration disregard the parents' right to know what happens on the campuses that their children attend.
12:54 PM - The current administration has NO REGARD for parents' rights much less the children. All of their press releases are one-sided and misleading. We the tax payers are totally in the dark on what goes on at BISD and that's the way they want it - to cover their misdeeds. Who suffers? The innocent children who one Board member claims to care so much about - BS!
BISD Police Chief Oscar Garcia, being the incompetent, corrupt loser he is in many people's opinion needs to be fired. Period. From what we've heard regarding his abuse of overtime, his mismanagement of logistics after the Cummings shooting where parents were enraged they couldn't get their kids without waiting for hours, other lawsuits filed against him for alleged violations of state law, and now this. And this is only what you HEAR about. Believe me, I've heard way more about this guy about his lack of professionalism and incompetence. He needs to go.
This happened under Brett Springston and Rolando Aguilar or Dumb and Dumber. The current administration had nothing to do with it.
The current BISD board and administration are the worst ever. A bunch of filthy crooks with the exception of Minerva Pena.
