The fray for the Democratic nomination for Justice of the Peace 2-2 has taken a nasty turn toward the sleazy.
Prominent among tose running is local artist and businesswoman Yolanda Begu. One of her opponents in none other than the daughter of Pct. 2 commissioner Ernie Hernandez, who has gained notoriety for drawing large numbers of mail-in votes, often harvested from elderly voters who turn over their ballots to his wife Norma and other Hernandez operatives.
Now, Jim Barton, of http://www.meanmisterbrownsvilleblogspot/ is telling us that the Hernandezs have another ally in the former mate (not wife) of the adopted son of Mike Begum, both men now deceased.
That woman is Josephina Canales Auten, whose Facebook alias is Scarlett O'Ha
ra.Although reportedly residing in Houston, she has been seen attending events promoting Erin Herandez's candidacy against Begum.
Begum supporters say that after Yolanda declared her candidacy for JP, Canales resurfaced and allegedly sought to extort money from the Begums, threatening to say nasty things about them otherwise. On several posting on her page, she urged the candidate to meet with her, offering to meet and discuss the welfare of her grandchildren.
However, neither Begum nor her family took the bait and instead are saying that they are in the process of seeking legal action against the woman.
Alex Begum, Yolanda's son and an attorney, stated in a email to Rrun-Rrun stated that: "She claims to have gone to Harvard on her Facebook, although she never attended this college and does not have a college degree. This lady has a long and sordid history.
Recently, she attempted to extort my mother by sending her a Facebook message. She said that if my mother did not pay her, she would bad mouth her on the Internet. Of course, my mother refused to pay her one single penny!
We are in the process of reporting her actions to the authorities and looking at additional legal options."
There is a lawsuit filed in a Harris County court where a judge issued a restraining order against her communicating with a married man who claims he had affair with her and she was not threatening to email compromising pictures and videos to his family and business associates if he did not pay her money.
A copy of that case filed late last year is titled Hart Eugene Schleicher vs. Josephina Canales Auten, Cause No. 2011-74258, 165th Judicial District Court, Harris County, Texas.

I knew Mr. Begum Sr. For many years. Josefina was married to his adopted son (no blood relation). From day one, he did not approve or allow this low class, crazy drug using lady into his life or his home. He refused to allow her into his house. It is well known that she was using cocain while pregnant and many at the time suspected that she had a handicap son because of her drug use. She should have been prosevuted fir doung this to her son. She had already abandoned two other children before marrying Mike Begum's Sr. Adopted son. She and her children were purposelessly kept away from Mike Begum's Sr. Wife and children. And for good reason.
Are you kidding Erin you are seriously hanging out with the Begum's former family? Give use a break. This will hurt your chances for office. WHY??????????????????
If Mike Jr. was an adoptive son of Mike Sr, then Josefina's kids were not Ms. Begums neighbors.

Good morning Mr. Montoya. Having breakfast and crank up your website to see Miss Piggy the first story. Of course, I threw up my breakfast! Reading the story, it doesn't surprise me that the sleazy Hernandez family would get into bed with another sleazy individual as this Josephina Canales. This is the only way that Miss Piggy and sleazy pervert Ernie can win an election. Lets just hope that sleaze ball election judge Ortiz checks those mail in ballots, if he wants or if Gilberto Hinojosa lets him? I am not a supporter of Begum either since there are other very capable candidates that can be elected. How can Brownsville put with such sleaze as the Hernandez family who continue to cast doubts into the minds of intelligent voters.

This woman was married to Michael Begum Jr. for 5 years back in the 80, Michael remarried the same year and his wife is the widow not Josefina, Andrea was married to Michael Jr. for 17 years, in fact Andrea raised Josefinas children because she abandoned them and hardly saw them, whatever she says is made up she was never part of the Begum family because when she was married to Michael jr. she was not accepted in the Begum household, for 2 reasons, one because Michaell Jr. was a drug addict and Michael sr. was afraid of him and second because of her
