By Juan Montoya
Some 8,300 votes have been cast in the Democratic Party primary runoffs, far exceeding the expectations of Democrats and Republicans alike. And judging by what observers have seen at the polling places , a goodly number of these were the elderly and the infirm hauled in rented vans by the ticket headed by Carlos Masso, candidate for District Attorney, Erin Hernandez Garcia, candidate for Justice of the Peace 2-2, and Abel Gomez, candidate for Constable Pct. 2. Some have also commented that they have seen the name of Denise Blanchard, a candidate for Congressional District 34, also shaded.
As we have reported in past posts, some of these elderly have been virtually kidnapped from their adult day care centers, a marked sample ballot thrust at them as directions for their vote, and then held captive inside the vans while their overseen (politiqueros and politiqueras) watch them fill out the ballots as per their directions.
And this is not just us talking.
We have produced for our readers taped conversations where the elderly voters identified Cameron County Pct. 2 Commissioner Ernie Hernandez's wife Norma Hernandez, "la mama de la candidata," directing them to "llene las bolitas" (fill in the ovals marked on the sample ballot) with her daughter's name as she looks over them filling the real ballots. Election department personnel obligingly handed the politiqueros the required number of ballots for their captive charges, even though many can walk and did not ask for assistance filling their ballots.
They, too, are accomplices in this subterfuge of fair and free elections.
Some of these poor elderly have gone on record and said Norma Hernandez lured them with promises of giving them a chicken plate after they voted, plates that never materialized.
Some have protested, but for the most part, these elderly and sometimes mentally disabled adults have done as they're told and voted for the candidates that the overseer ordered.
Of the six races in Tuesday's runoff, five are in the Democratic Party, where the largest number of irregularities have been reported. With some 8,300 votes cast in the Democratic primary and another 1,500 or so in the race in the Republican primary, it is easy to see that the problem lies in the larger number.
Besmirching the messenger for pointing out that in our social compact in a democracy we expect our leaders to embody traits and values that the rest of us frail human with our personal defects often lack holds no water. When massive fraud is perpetrated against the body politic (all of us, the community), this social compact is broken and the electorate should demand that these individuals who tore asunder the fragile bond between us be rejected from political leadership.
The fraud that has been documented and perpetrated against us won't be undone by a judge, as many of us have learned in the past. Judges are loath to undo election results even in the face of overwhelming evidence that fraud has occurred. They, too, run for election under this system as do county prosecutors. Expect no help from those quarters.
What's done is done. Now it is up to the rest of us to urge our fellow citizens who haven't cast their vote for whatever reason to vote with their feet and show up at the polls on Tuesday to neutralize the evil that has been perpetrated against the electoral process.
We know who is responsible for this. To attempt to obfuscate the issue by defending these practices or pointing out other's human frailties is to deny the premise that a meaningful democracy is an ideal worth fighting for or defending.
Do we want to change this? Or not?

Obfuscate?
To add another thing - everyone who seeks to defend the integrity of the ballot should be demanding the know where the Chief of Police is on the problems, and where is Sheriff Lucio? The problem might be that rather than call the police and allow the police to take the statement so that they can bring immediate charges of kidnapping (which I would support) Yolanda Begum is taking the law into her own hands and just recording people without law enforcement there to help.
EXCELLENT!!!!! GOOD MOVE!!! The police is useless and they take sides. YUPPIIIIII!!!!
Can you please tell us the chizme on the chief of police substitute? whats going on with him and his pathetic crew? tell us the whole story.
Begum has handed over all the evidence to roger Ortiz, cava, and the Texas rangers mr. Cervantes. There was a direct request by law inforcement that her camp not publicize the evidence because of the fear of those who gave statements being further victimized or worse. To critisize a person that is actively recording the fraud and doing something about it, is intellectually dishonest even for a disbarred lawyer.
You call the police and either they show up late , after the fact or very late.
Fuck those puts, get out and vote!
well yes the police is useless and ALWAYS LATE for everything, they are either at the girl friends house or lesbian with lesbian or gay with gay :/
Everyone has a right to vote even the elderly. The biggest crybabies that were at the adult day care centers were upset because they were to lazy to wake up early. Remember early bird gets the worm. They cry because they couldn't figure out how to do it themselves. At the end of the day the only thing that matters is that you win and it doesn't matter if you had to beg, wine or cry to get the most votes. All the democrats ran the dirtiest campaign i have ever seen and that is exactly what the republicans want they are probably laughing at us now. GOOD JOB. STOP CRYING, STOP the dirty politics and just ask your people to go vote.
if you know masso is a corrupt inept crooked politician controlled by the 8-liner mafia and the mexican cartel bosses laundering their blood money, why do you continue to run an ad asking us to vote for him, thus extending the corruption for another 4 years???
Back in the 50's, trucks would roll up to polling places and folks would climb out of the back and go in one at a time. They were given a sring with knots on it. These would be placed on the paper ballet and a vote cast for whoever was at the knot.
So, what else is new? Vote selling and buying is generations old down here in North Mexico.
Oh yes, I forgot, folks are going to get all spun up about this and stop it. Yea right!
(You call the police and either they show up late , after the fact or very late.)
Oh, but just go 10 miles over the speed limit and some big fat cop (name of Reyna)on a motorcycle(who obviously should not be riding a motrocycle as big and fat as he is)will be on you like flies on shit.
El Wenceslao de Las Prietas.
Montoya writes that some of the elderly have gone on record that they were lured with a promise of a chicken plate, wherein does that constitute kidnapping or coercion. To be fair, why is it not written about those that the Begum campaign solicits with promises. Or are we expected to believe that Yolanda Begum's campaign is 100% percent clean? I would bet a dime that if an impartial polling was done on all the tactics the candidates use to get people to the polls the majority of them would be guilty in one way or another of buying votes. I am sure that there are some out there who would go vote for a candidate if they were a promised of a bottle of smart water. What say you?
it is very unfortunate that the police and sherifs union knowing everything they know endorsed Erin's candidacy, do you honestly think that if they are called they are going to do anything about their candidate stealing an election? complain to Roger is useless, he not only does not do anything about the irregularities, when asked by the press he changes the facts and he has been saying that he called the Texas Rangers and that they are here observing the election. It is a total lie, from the Vela, Saenz and Begum camps, there have been numerous complaints and almost demands to have someone from the State to supervise the election process, and nobody has shown to the polls, the only thing left to do is expose them.
Well, we continue to add to the list that marks the reputation of the town:
1. Voter harrassment
2. Vote buying
3. Threats and intimidation by candidates
4. Police and authorities acquiescense (wink and nod?)
5. Attacking legitimate institutions
6. Corrupt judges
7. 24% real unemployment
8. Highest obesity rate in the nation
.... where is this headed?
nowhere good.
Hint: You can't have economic development when outsiders don't think the place fit to live in.
Fat, dumb, crooked, and mean.
We better clean up this act soon or its going to be Act III real quick.
WTF. WHY DOESN'T THE HERALD PRINT ANY OF THIS?

Ja ja ja that is so true, they are so fucking fat, ugly, nasty looking cops and they think they look so awsome in the motorcycles, plus they give you this shitless attitude as if they were the big BOSSES, but all they are is just PURA CACA/MIERDA, they fuck poor and old people just to put in some work!!! and thats not right, the fucker that should see and correct this issues is Sgt. De La Rosa who is in charge of the mother fuckers and the black and nasty looking of Orlando Rodriguez with all his achichincles lambe huevos.
BROWNSVILLE HERALD SMELLS LIKE CHANNEL 5!
FREEDOM COMMUNICATIONS sells watered down hogwash. Good and nature kinded news, nadamas huele a bonito, por un ratito.
There's only one way to expose the truth. When it reeks of SHIT/CACA/MIERDA so much, one falls unconscious. Pero la gente no quiere oler mierda. Thats probably because they stink on their own shit, its evident their nostrils have gotten so used to their own smell, their noses cant tell.

Thanks Buddy. But if I ever see that one big fat slob of a cop that I mentioned earlier fall off his motorcycle and start choking on his tongue, I'm just gonna honk at him, let out a big ass laugh and keep right on a-truckin.
El Wenceslao.
Hispanics constantly complain about the old days of rhe "Red and Blue" ballots.....and the way the "patrons" used to herd the workers into the voting place and watch which ballot they took. Nothing has changed and the local elections process clearly shows how Hispanics are no taking advantage of Hispanics in this process. What a shame that Hispanics have learned to "be the boss" and little has changed.

Lol..I agree with you, the other bastard is Gonzalez on a motorcycle, they look so cheap and are just pieces of trash, they give no breaks to the public, they are ass holes and pura mierda, but then again, what can we expect when some of these cops have a cheap life, a cheap career and a cheap lesbian wife..
It would be nice if our new BPD leader would address this, since no one else will
It would be nice if our new BPD leader
Leader??? What BPD leader?? they have no leader, all they are is just a bunch of butter balls with patas screwing each other as hard as they can, they have no leadership in that department, its all gossip, screwing, fighting, and screwing the public as much as they can, these MF should retire and get out of our freaking face MF!!
You ask if we want this to change, or not?
My guess is the answer is "not". It has been a fact in every election down here for generations. If folks really cared about crooked politicians, vote buying and selling, it would have been changed by now.
If we are still here in 50 years, it will still be going on and pundits such as you will still be jumping up and down with much indignation and angst.
Brownsville PD is to busy kicking the shit out of innocent people. Most of these dumb ass cops who have been there to long are part of the problem. They just want to f**K everyone in every way they can. Thats why they are always getting sued. And then they support Luis Saenz the crooked DA thats going to protect them the next time a PD kicks Your ASS for no reason. F**K BPD.
I read a lot of anger and fraustration in these comments.
Brownsville "On the Border by the Sea" continus it's downward spiral with no end in sight.

Very true, the cops are only screwing innocent people, I have seen that many of these cops give tickets EVEN when people are driving slow, and this happens when their Sgt. de La Rosa speaks to them and tells them that if they don't put in any work, they will be taken out of the Motorcycle crew and put back in patrolling, so these nasty cops don't care who they screw over and then the poor people can't fight the ticket infront of the Judge because THE COPS WORD has more validation than the word of a citizen (when cops are big lying S-O-B)and they always get sued because they are so fucking STUPID when it comes to work related issues, ohhh but when it's about fucking a girl or co-worker, they are the first ones to be on the front row!!! and most of these cops DON'T EVEN HAVE COLLEGE!!! these cops are pathetic and so NASTY LOOKING!!! FUCK YOU COPS!!!
Well what do you expect?? allot of citizens are mad and upset because these cops and politics just dont give a fuck about nothing but themselves!!! Open your eyes and then you will understand why so much anger against all these people.
(Well what do you expect?? allot of citizens are mad and upset because these cops and politics just dont give a fuck about nothing but themselves!!!)
I live in Las Prietas and work in an office at the North Park Plaza ( where El Globo supermarket is by the expressway). A daily distance of about 3-4 miles daily round trip. In exactly 2 months time I was stopped and written up for going 40 on a 30 MPH speed zone (Price rd.)TWICE. To any cop worth his weight in SHIT, I am obviously a working citizen clearly minding my own business going to and from work.
I mean, aren't there any real criminals (drug cartel members, speeding truck drivers, prostitutes, their pimps, etc..) to go and mess with instead of the obvious law abiding citizen?
El Wensley.
July 31, 2012 2:46 PM
Well....if they are prostitutes or gays nothing will happen to them, cuz some of these cops date those people, the drug dealers are running free because those provide information to the authority, and as long as they give information they CAN WORK and sell their drugs to the public and the pimps also provide information plus they get to do free BJs to them. Its all corrupted in this City.
