DUAL ENROLLMENT
In regions of the state that have both a univeristy and community college, dual enrollment has traditionally been offered through the auspices of the community college. Following that model, UTB will be transferring the function of providing dual enrollment to TSC, with the exception of students at the Brownsville Early College High School and UTB Math and Science Academy.School districts are in the process of being notified that high school students in our region will continue to have uninterrupted opportunity to earn tuition-free dual enrollment high school and college credit taught by teachers who meet the same rigorousSACS standards in their high school classroom.
These courses will continue to be eligible for transfer to any public institution of higher education. Until TSC obtains separate accreditation, dual enrollment courses will be accredited under the partnership accreditation.
We ask your help in assisting the dual enrollment staff as they prepare for a smooth and seamless transition.
(Ed's. Note: In the above-released public service announcement, it appears that UTB is assuming that the dual-enrollment Brownsville Independent School District students will automatically attend TSC in the Fall of 2012.
However, we have learned that that may not be the case as the BISD honchos at the Advanced Academics Department are contemplating on going with Harlinge's TSTC, not TSC. We wonder why members of the department klike Acacia Ameel and Pilar Janis have opted to contract with an institution outside of the city, instead of having the students serviced by our local community college. Don't you? Dual Enrollment offers college classes, for college credit, to high school students. In the UTB model, the students take the classes on their high school campuses. The school districts pay a five dollar fee in lieu of tuition and fees, meaning the students pay nothing, and the school districts provide the use of college textbooks free of charge to the students. UTB has about 6,000 students in Dual Enrollment. They are from many districts, not just BISD.)

If you wonder why TSC Harlingen? TSC Harlingen has cheaper units (3units per class) compared to TSC Brownsville.
Nostalgia is certainly hitting those of us who attended TSC and got used to the original orange scorpion as our mascot. Many of us wonder if this split is of any advantage to anyone. Having a partnership should did provide many programs and made it feasable for them to stay home to attend college. If only UT had paid it's debts, maybe something would have been able to work out. What I do not understand is why UT has been able to get away without paying the money that is due TSC. Another case of corruption in Brownsville? Make me wonder!
Amazing that BISD would go to Harlingen to engage in dual enrollment. Another reason Brownsville can't move forward; because people can't work together and won't invest in this community. My guess is that the animosity felt by Juliet Garcia has something to do with this. Again, with all the symbols, "la jaiba" best symbolizes this city and its citizens.

I BELIEVE IT WAS" IF FUNDS AVAILABLE" OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, THERE ARE NO.FUNDS, THEY DON'T PAY, SOMEONE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG. IT WAS A CONSPIRACY FROM THE BEGINNING, THERE WAS NEVER ANY INTENTION TO PAY TSC THE RENT OWED TO THEM. . THE INTENT WAS TO STEAL TSC FROM THE COMMUNITY. IT WAS JUST ONE MORE MULTIMILLION SCHEME SO RAMPANT IN BROWNSVILLE POLITICS AND BUSINESSES GONE WRONG TO STEAL FROM THE POOR TAXPAYERS AND TO GIVE TO THE RICH GREEDMONGERS WHO HAVE SO MUCH MONEY THEY COULD NOT SPEND IN THEIR LIFETIME. HA!

BROWNSVILLE REALLY NEEDS TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THAT MIDDLE SCHOOL OUT THERE CLOSE TO RIVERA HS. THAT NAME IS AN ABOMINATION TO EVEN BE CONSIDERED AS BEING WORTHY OF BEING REPRESENTATIVE OF EDUCATION FOR OUR CHILDREN. That name dishonors everything education stands for. BISD may be concerned about whether TSC will even be operating in the near future. TSC has to hire almost an entirely new faculty and have them in place to teach in 9 months. They have not even advertised to hire for these positions yet.
WISH TSC WOULD HAVE KEPT THEIR ORIGINAL COLORS.
