My pick for the 2012 Texan of the Year is a person who has made a big impact in North Texas.
He is not a politician, because he cares too much. He is deeply committed to his community. His actions have been publicized at the local and national level.
He takes on the big guys, while remaining focused on his duty to serve what many would consider the “least of these.”
He’s taken on cities like Farmers Branch and Irving and has made a significant impact. His aspirations continue to bring on many debates.
What impresses me is what he does for the little guy, especially students. This is done without fanfare, media and all the trappings that others would seek.
That person is local activist Carlos Quintanilla.
