BWANA CAVAZOS' SLAUGHTERED MANAGERIE AT AUCTION

By Juan Montoya
Psst! Psst! Hey mister, wanna buy a nice stuffed lion?
How about a water buffalo or a zebra? Or what remains of rogue African elephant?
Are you in the market for a nice zebra rug, the head of an African gazelle, or how about a stuffed tiger?
Well, if you've got a few extra bucks on hand to get yourself a fearsome stuffed beast from the Heart of Darkness, you might be interested to know that the vast African animal collection from the private museum of the late Johnny Cavazos, the insurance mogul extraordinaire who milked the Brownsville Independent School District contracts for decades with the help of pliant BISD trustees, will be auctioned in Houston soon.roosevelt5
If you ever had the good fortune (or connections) to visit the Joneca Private Trophy Museum at 335 Paredes Line Road next to Cavazos Insurance, you would know the collection we speak about here. The scores of African animals hunted down by Bwana Cavazos during his trips to deepest Africa were displayed for all his favorite friends and those he wanted to amaze and influence to see.
It was as if you walked into a clearing in the African bush and were surrounded by lifelike beast, testament to the subtle (and expensive) art of the taxidermist.
And where did Johnny get the dough to not only transport himself to the dark continent and then to transport the dressed trophies back to the states and back to the private museum.
For years, Cavazos had manipulated the members of local boards (including, but not limited to the BISD) so that they would steer the lucrative contracts his way. He did not provide the insurance himself but was named as the agent-of-record, and he earned a percentage from the millions local districts and governmental entities spent to insure their employees and their health, their their assets, and other things including real estate and rolling stock.
Johnny played hard ball. He wasn't against funding certain candidates who played for pay to replace those who had qualms about bid rigging and favoritism.
For years it was rumored that there was a secret section of the Joneca Private Trophy Museum that displayed the careers of superintendents and board members who rubbed Johnny the wrong way. We cannot vouch for that even though rumors persist. We will try to learn where the stuffed beasta will be auctioned to the highest bidder in case someone want to give the Cavazos trust yet more of their money.

Ya Basta Juanio el estupidio! Everyone in this city knows that Cata is behind all the hate towards Mr. Cavazos. She is upset because when she asked him for a big amount of money he said "no" to her because he did not trust her. She wanted money for her campaign back when she ran for city commissioner and lied about where she lived. Everyone knows that Cata was not living at her Mother's house on Southmost, but she used the address to run for city commissioner of that area. Cata has always lived a life of lies. Just ask her husband who she always tells she is going to a meeting for work, BISD, etc. She lies to him everyday and he is okay with the lies. Only he knows why. Now give it up Cata and Juan. Just give it up.

Rummor has it the Cavazos will invite people to Vegas Expensive hotels and have hunting trips in side the hotels? Yes, he will have the animals deliver to the hotel floors for people to shoot?

I wonder if he is being reincarnated into a lion?
