After a hectic Friday and Saturday where the workers at the City Secretary's Office and the city's legal counsel hunkered down to decide whether the signatures on the petitions handed in by the eight candidates vying for three positions this May they reached a decision about mid-Saturday afternoon.
"All applicants for a place on the general municipal election of May 11, 2013 have qualified for a place on the ballot," a statement issued by the office of Estella Von Hatten.
In District 3, it will be Martin Sarkis, Debbie Portillo, David Belleperche, and Rosalio “Chalio” Rosales. Incumbent Melissa Zamora will not run for re-election.

All the others waited until the last day, (Friday) to bring their in.
Adding to the confusion was the fact that the consultant for elections and redistricting with the city had formulated a plan that at times divided some voting precincts and made it difficult to determine whether the voters had signed the petition lived in the district. Secretary office workers had to go over each address to make sure the address of the voter was legitimate. Candidates needed at least 100 certified signatures to get on the ballot.
On Monday, the candidates will draw for place on the ballot at the city secretary's office.

This is an informative article about which candidates have qualified to have their names placed on the ballot for the upcoming city commission elections. If you cared one iota about Brownsville, you would not have made such a negative comment. It is because of apathy like yours among the residents of Brownsville that politicians have been able to keep its inhabitants uninformed and screwed over time and time again with their wasteful and self serving spending WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS. Your vote is your voice, speak up Brownsville.

Dr. Gowen should not run again she is a joke gross missmanagement at the 4B EDC with that sports park $35 million only $25 million over budget and no one to blame for it? Fraud, and the feds should look into this fiasco also and make some charges and arrest. Time for elected officlas i mean all of them bisd, city and county to take the reposibilitiy bestow upon you by us votes. Come on.

The ones and only ones corrupt are Enrique Escobedo and Otis Powers, they were both on a hunting trip last weekend with Joe Salazar the insurance guy and the new Johnny Cavazos.
Hear Escobedo is having a fundraiser on Tuesday at Cobbleheads and it's probably funded by Salazar. Go by and check it out.
Martin Arambula will probably be there begging him to give him a promotion since he voted to give his brother a 3 million dollar contract for port of B'ville.
Notice how Escobedo was pushing & suppoting Arambula's sister's Loan Co.
