COUNTY ELECTION OFFICE WORKERS FEELING THE STRESS?

By Juan Montoya
As the operation of the Cameron County political machines and their operatives comes into focus of the Texas Attorney General's Office, local politiqueros and politiqueras are beginning to feel the strain.
Just yesterday Rose Melendez, who carries business cards describing herself as a political activist, was seen at the county courthouse on Harrison Street protesting that all she did was assist voters when they alighted off vans at the curb as they were led to the voting booth.
Others are said to be looking for destinations north of town and even eyeing the trek south to the Mother Country with trepidation as they weigh the prospects of traveling in that violence wracked landscape or sticking around to face the inevitable music.
This has to cause a heavy strain on those county employees in the vortex of the troubles. Just a little over a week ago, Brownsville police patrol officers arrested Jesse Alan Valencia for the offense of Possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), a state jail felony, and Public intoxication. Jesse is an employee of the Cameron County Elections Office.
Jesse was apparently seen wondering through downtown Brownsville in an altered state and was nabbed by Brownsville's Finest and thrown in the clink.
To those acquainted with the action downtown, Jesse was probably caught with a dime bag as he was bar hopping in the two or three remaining bars left after Mayor Tony Martinez had the city commission buy the Market Square properties and put a stop tho that debauchery. Imagine people drinking beer and doing drugs downtown! That's a right reserved for the patrons of upscale bars north of Boca Chica.
The only good news for Jesse (pictured above) is the county's policy on substance abuse that states employees caught using them are given the opportunity to seek treatment and counseling. If Jesse takes the treatment and behaves, he should be able to overcome this embarrassment and carry out his duties.
With May elections coming in a little over a month and the office under scrutiny of the Texas AG, he and his coworkers are going to have to be at the top of their game to put on a good show.

Downtown????
Sir,you must be mistaken!
Isn't this area reserved for the intellectual type who go to resolve world problems over a drink?
Sir, I am shocked as so many in our fine community frequent downtown and place photos in their FB pages of all the fun they have .
Isn't this where artsy people hang out?

PLEASE NOTE THE SARCASM.

Oye Montoya, you need to see about how Gus Reyna retired but will come back as Chief Deputy in about 30 days? I understand that this is an appointed position but how is it that he can retire, sit out 30 days and then come back as CD making over $80K a year? Man, if that is not double dipping to the fullest, I don't know what is? That is not including his medical? Look into this, please! The other reason that I am bringing this out is because this Gus Reyna has a possible alcohol and substance addiction. Everyone including Omar Lucio knows about this and nothing is done? Its bad enough, the department is micro-managed but by abusers?

Wasn't Jesse the one seen having lengthy conversations with Pseudo doctor Escobedo? They seem to be very well acquainted. And why is it that Otis Powers is unable to sit still during the School Board meetings? Fidgets continuously. Why is Escobedo so irate during the meetings? He speaks at an incomprehensible rate. Any layman can tell they are under the influence. Incoherent imbeciles on illegal drugs. That is who is making the decisions for the citizens of brownsville. Grand larceny is occurring right before our eyes.

I am glad the county has such a policy to give employees the opportunity to change their lives around. I think that an employee that is in the same perdicament as this one is, should be drug tested on a more frequent basis since he has shown that he does use drugs.

That's why he was placed there by De. and Rep. Chairs! They are in agreement for Chris to keep the entrenched riff raff who actually handle the ballots in place so that they can manipulate our votes!

They are soooo stupid, old, and set in their ways, it's pitiful!

They can't even see! They can't read, write, or express theselves verbally. They are barely able to breathe due to illness and old age!

They make their seasonal wage there then go back on welfare!

Estan comprados!!

Cameron County has to wait for days and weeks to get election results because of these fools!!

If the count doesn't match what these filthy politicians want, they send them back to count again until they get their mandated results!

Alli esta el problema, browntown!!
