(A reader alerted us to the Cameron County Inmate List on the Internet and said we would be interested in this particular female who, as the offense description lists, was jailed May 9 by the Cameron County Sheriff's Dept. The charge of aggravated theft through misapplied funds and violation of fiduciary duties implies either the monies were from a law firm or a governmental entity. Anyone out there know?)

When we asked our readers a few days ago whether they knew anything about the woman pictured above, we received several leads about her case. Apparently, Ms. Atkinson has not been a nice girl. Her recent arrest was on a warrant issued after she failed to report to her probation for aggravated theft conviction in 2007.

Sources tell us that she and a partner (unnamed) were convicted for pulling a scam on elderly targets who they convinced to invest in a new brand of salsa they said they were marketing nationally. Prosecutors said that some of the elderly included at least one who was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. In total, the state said that the duo pocketed close to $400,000 from their victims. Unbelievably, the DA then (Armando Villalobos) agreed to go along and give Atkinson probation.

It was her failure to report for that probation that finally landed her in the clink. Her hearing to revoke probation was heard Thursday in Judge Janet Leal's court. Ya traen a Ninfa en salsa!
