So Gov. Rick Perry thinks the sun and planets will stop in their orbits tomorrow so we can find out what his personal political plans are?
If we were him, we wouldn't hold or breath.
He shamed Texas with his run for president when he couldn't even remember which three departments of the federal government he would abolish, called our allies – Turkey's leaders – Islamic terrorists who should be kicked out of NATO and started an international incident with the nation's leaders calling his comments "unfortunate" its media simply calling him an "idiot."
Then he was asked about a Supreme Court case and clearly didn't know but decided to try to try answer it anyway resulting in a two and half minute bit of rambling. He could have just admitted he didn't remember the case and moved on.
Then he claimed that there's something wrong in America because gays can join the military but schoolchildren aren't allowed to celebrate Christmas. Say what?
Then came the killer. You remember. When asked which three governmental agencies he would end, Perry quickly named the first two and then just stopped. When he couldn't remember the third one, he offered up the one word heard 'round the world; "oops."
Now, in an interview on a national talk show, he assured the host that the restrictions on abortion services proposed in a Senate bill would pass and said that he would not allow "mob" rule to control the process "in that building behind us."
He forgot to mention that his cronies in the Texas Senate forced the speaker to disrupt the filibuster against the legislation claiming that using a back brace was a violation of their rules. Sure.
Perry reminds us of John Salvi, the murderer who in 1994 shot two abortion clinic receptionist in cold blood and wounding five others. On March 19, 1996, he was found guilty of murdering receptionists Lee Ann Nichols and Shannon Lowney. He was convicted in a federal court and died in prison of an apparent suicide in 1996 while awaiting sentencing.
Salvi, apparently, could not live up to his convictions.
Now we have a governor whose state just reached the dubious milestone of being the only state in the union to have executed its 500th inmate since it reinstated the death penalty in 1982, a Black woman, proclaiming himself to be a "protector of life."
Her attorney Maurie Levin continued to fight for McCarthy until the last moment, but his claims were rejected. He said black jurors were improperly blocked from McCarthy's trial, a claim the convicted woman made in her appeals. Her trial was decided by an all-white jury."The shameful errors that plague Ms. McCarthy’s case – race bias, ineffective counsel and courts unwilling to exercise meaningful oversight of the system – reflect problems that are central to the administration of the death penalty as a whole," Levin said.
Now, what if Salvi's mother had chosen to have an abortion? Could two lives have been saved and the lives of the five innocent victims and their families not been disrupted by this cold-blooded killer?
We are probably doomed for another run by Perry to the Texas governorship. He has proven that he didn't have the mettle to compete in the national arena. We're at least glad that the Republican electorate aborted his chances for a run at the presidency.
But who knows, perhaps he can remember the third department after four years trying to remember.

For your education, Juan: If you use our sun and planets in the same sentence only the planets orbit, not the sun. And, no, they cannot simply stop, as you indicate. So, your premise is flawed.
Rick Perry does what Aggie "Yell Leaders" do best.....scream, yell without meaning. Let's hope what ever Perry decides, it will take him out of Austin and possibly out of Texas. Perry is a fiasco....an accident waiting to happen. Time for new leadership in Texas....time for him to leave us alone forever. He is not smart, just a rabble rouser and makes Texas look like a backward state. Our economy has remained strong because the Texas Constitution requires a balanced budget, not because of Rick Perry or anything he has done.
Quite left sided are you? You failed to mention in your essay that economically Texas is leading this floundering nation. This is due to strong conservative republican leadership. Perhaps you should move up north to witness democrat run economies in action? Perry is a poor communicator but action speaks louder than words. I can't wait to see what garbage the democraps run against our leader. You are right about one thing though. We WILL be be granted another 4 to 8 years of our great govoners leadership. GOD bless T E X A S !
Fortunately, your opinion of Rick Perry is not shared by the majority of voter in the Lone Star State. He has been Governor longer than any other person and can be elected again, with ease, should he choose to run.
You La Raza type liberals live in a air tight bubble down here and nobody much gives a shit what you think about anything.
That is the Republi-CANTS for you. Where is his compadre Karlos Kascos? Oh yea, doing nothing.
(PERRY THE HYPOCRITE THINKS WE CARE)
Well, he shore seems to know how to deep-throat a sausage, though. Much akin to Linda Lovalace. Oh,yeah!
Dags.
I like corn dogs and Perry.
HA HA!! I love to hear the ignorant republicans who THINK we are leading economically. I wonder where do they get those fantasy numbers? Strong republican leadership?! PLEASE, I have been better leadership from a manager at Best Buy! I have been a registered republican for 10 years and I can safely say that I will not vote republican if this clown runs for office again. But unfortunately our party has been invaded by the biggest ignorant troglodytes that believe any garbage they say just because they wear a suit and start throwing red meat to keep them happy. The GOP has turned into a walking, breathing joke and they are on the road to irrelevancy. Time for true conservatives to leave that sinking ship and form a new party based on REAL conservative principles.
He got a little choked up so we shouldn't vote for him? Dean yells, "Aargh!" and that ruins his chances? Anyone that would consider such things grounds for disqualification is the idiot. Texas economy is booming despite the mass invasion from our southern "sister"...mother is more like it at this point. I hope that he decides to run for president again. After this Obama character, I think that the idiots that voted for him have seen the light, finally.
Democrats dont have much in the way of leaders or leadership either, no wait i forgot, hey we got gilberto hinojosa in austin now right, hey he can run for governor and show them how to steal lie and cheat, right gilberto?
well if Texas ends up with a State income tax - you will wish Perry had stayed on board.
Fuck Perry! It's about damn time this idiot stepped down. He embarassed all Texans when he tried to run for President. He didn't do a damn thing to help the State or the citizens of this State. Good riddance!!!
