WHO IS EDDIE LUCIO TO PREACH TO POOR WOMEN ABOUT MORALS?

By Juan Montoya
The way Eddie Lucio talks about his support for the conservatives restrictive House Bill 2 that has passed to the Texas Senate he wants to provide safer, better reproductive services for the women of Texas.
Yet, he well knows that if it passes – and that is all but a certainty it will pass in the Texas Senate – no clinics providing abortion services will be available to any woman in the Rio Grande Valley.
That means that a woman who decides she doesn't want to carry out her pregnancy to term will have to travel to San Antonio or out of state to have an abortion performed. Poor women, who can;t afford the travel, lodgin, or costs associate with the procedure will be deprived of a choice in the matter. Eddie will make it for them because, well, he knows better than they do when it comes to their bodies.
It matters little that the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Roe v. Wade of 1973 grants abortion as a constitutional right to all women in this country.
Lucio and the rest of the male-dominated crew over at the Lege have been hell-bent on deciding for them whether they want to have children or not.
As Mara Posada, spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood of South Texas, said: “We do believe these laws are mainly being passed to restrict access,” she said. “If they cannot make abortion illegal, they will make it impossible for women to get them.”
The bill prohibits abortions of fetuses more than 20 weeks post-fertilization, a change from the current 24-week restriction, requires physicians at abortion centers to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of the center, and mandates that those centers be held to the same standards of ambulatory surgical centers.
That, said Whole Woman’s Health spokeswoman Fatimah Gifford, poses the most threat to women’s health. The bill would lead to the cessation of abortion services at her company’s clinic in McAllen.
Lucio told the local daily that as an anti-abortion legislator it is his goal to limit abortions.
“If we limit those abortion services, then hopefully we will see more babies being born, and I think they have the right to be born,” he said.
Those new restrictions come on the heels of the 2003 bill that required abortions performed after 16 weeks to be performed in a hospital or ambulatory surgical center, that women seeking abortion be required to wait 24 hours after receiving information about adoption agencies and lowered the number of abortions that could be performed by an unlicensed abortion provider.
Another law that went into effect in 2012 that requires a 24-hour delay after a state-mandated ultrasound already makes an abortion a multi-day process, adding the additional costs of lodging and travel to make abortions even more expensive.
“We would hope that women understand that there are other alternatives,” he said, noting that there are adoption options and centers that take in pregnant women who have issues with their families after revealing their pregnancy. “There are a lot of care-giving types of facilities that would gladly help young women who obviously did not want to get pregnant but are pregnant.”
Lucio obviously wants Valley women to have more babies, even if they are the products of  rape and incest. He thinks the world as Eddie has made it is a fine place for a new human being to be.
In the case of poor women in the Valley, they would be welcoming their new baby into the Lucio Heaven of double-digit unemployment, teen-pregnancy, record dropout rates, massive welfare participation rates, political and moral corruption, record rates of child physical and sexual abuse, and all the other niceties of civilization as Eddie has known it.
They will be able to have fine political representation as Eddie has given them with his hand in the gutting of Workman's Compensation to favor business, tort reform to limit redress of wrongs by business and the medical industry, his private profiting from lobbying for private prison corporations to house the next bunch of dropouts of Valley schools, and, of course, a new batch of Democratic voters who will pull the palanca for Eddie and his gang of chicken-plate politicians who provide them with a pachanga or two accompanied by a conjunto come election time.
When he is not convincing the Port of Brownsville commissioners to dump Brown and Root for Dannenbaum Engineering to effect the $21-million swindle for a price, the Willacy County commissioners to hire his employers to build the new prisons and a few are convicted of taking bribes from them, or donning golf knickers and cap to relax after a week of selling his soul for 30 pieces of silver, he is being self-righteous and telling women he knows better than they do about their own bodies.
He will not be raising the child. He will be too busy signing on to the conservative legislation that will restrict their access to child care, nutrition assistance, educational access, and legal representation.
Having an abortion is a momentous decision for a woman as it is. It is something they have to live with for the rest of their lives. They don't need a mental midget dressed as a vaudeville slap-stick comedian who has lived off the public dole for his entire live to preach to them about morals.

Eddie Lucio Jr. hah! That moronic, disgrace of a human being has no business limiting healthcare for the majority of women in his district. He is the one that will burn in the hell of hypocrisy. Fucking thief!

Maybe he internationalized himself, and now is lobbying for the Mexican clinics, where all the woman deprived of abortion services in the valley, will go

Perfectly stated Mr. Montoya. Eddie Jr. is a self-serving leech that pretends to be a Democratic but is ready to side with the far right Rebublicans if it will benefit Eddie Jr. He was not only one of the few Democrats to vote for this bill, he was a cosponsor!

You are not representing the wishes and needs of your constituents when you vote to remove valuable, and indeed critical, medical care from those least able to afford needless travel to San Antonio or Houston. Eddie's choice in this matter has nothing to do with babies and everything to do with looking good for the Republicans. Eddie wants to be sure he's on the side that controls the power and money.

I wonder if the voters in the Valley will ever wake up and oust this sorry excuse for a state senator. All you need to know about Eddie is that the man has no real job and hasn't had a real job since he found out he could live very comfortably by doing the bidding of those with the means to ensure that Eddie Jr. gets a nice big slice of the pie.

Did everyone read the story about how much money this worthless politician owes? ITs no wonder he took money in the rail/truck bridge and keeps chingando money from the taxpayers! The freaking guy makes so much money along with his wife that he does not know how to handle his finances? And, he expects us to let him handle our money in the government?

Dear Mr. Sucio Self-Righteousness Republicant in a Demos Suit MoFo:

There are three people in the world that have the right to have any input into my reproductive system. In order of importance these people are: ME, my husband and my obgyn. But please understand that while I may look to my husband and doctor for advice and support, I am the only person who has the right to make a decision about my body because I am the one who has to live with the consequences of that decision.

You want to come into my doctor’s office and my bedroom all in the name of “personhood,” but I ask you, where does it end? By telling me I don’t have the right to access birth control or abortion services, you are taking liberties with my person. By telling me that I don’t have the right to make decisions about my body, you are taking liberties with my freedom. By supporting these anti-women initiatives, you are saying that we are not all equal, that women are not capable of making important decisions about their bodies and their lives. By supporting these anti-women initiatives, you are saying that the government should have control over the most intimate aspects of its citizens’ lives. Well, I am not a child and I am capable of making an intelligent and informed decision about my healthcare and my private life without any help from you.

This is not about being a Republican or Democrat, of which I am neither, this is about standing up to a government that so blatantly hates women. This is about fighting for the right to control my life without interference from a government that doesn’t know or care about me. I am frightened at the direction this country is headed because I believe that these anti-women initiatives are just one more way for the government to chip away at my rights as a citizen of a free country. Everyone in this country deserves to be treated with dignity and respect and if you can’t see how these anti-women initiatives that you so ardently support infringe on these basic human rights, then I pity you because you can’t see how what you are doing harms the people you pledged to help and protect.

In light of your incomprehensible need to control my reproductive system, please accept this gift of a knitted uterus and vagina. As you so desperately desire, they are virginal, unsullied by any sexual contact and tied up with a pretty white ribbon. Now that you have one of your own, stop trying to dick around with mine.
Sincerely,
A Very Angry Voter

Amen, that imbecile is worthless, nothing but an overweight buffoon.

Would male legislators so be behind this if there were a companion bill that required a DNA bank of all men so that the fathers of these babies would be held responsible for them?

Anonymous said...

Men need to take more responsibility when they engage in activity that can result in a child. More women would think about keeping their child if the male partner would do the right thing. There is no such thing as an accident when it comes to the sanctity of human life. Ask any woman who has had an abortion about how it haunts them for decades.

An abortion is not a momentous decision. It is a decision made under extreme duress, panic, despair, guilt, trauma or even as an option to suicide. It is not momentous on the scale of the signing of the Declaration of Independence or the launch of a new aircraft carrier. It is often made under the fear of retribution by ones family or under great emotional strain. This is particularly true in the Hispanic culture of south texas where long standing conservative family expectations are still observed. Momentous was a poor choice of term for the gravity of the decision that is being made.

But nevertheless Eddie Lucio looks ridiculous in his golf attire. You got that part right.

Eddie Lucio is a DICK! He is a disgrace to mankind and yet his continued elections prove that Cameron County doesn't just accept corruption, it demands it. This guy is dumb as a stump....what a shame for us.

The issue is clearly a male desire to dominate women. The concept of having a DNA bank for all men so that the fathers of these babies are held responsible for them is a great idea! I believe they should also be required to give blood samples. If a man has a minor child that he is not paying support for, he should be sterilized!!

God you are a such a spic! Do us all a favor, take some remedial English composition classes at TSC and get some glasses.

If you really gave a damn about women you'd support this bill. Most of you only care about making democrats look good. You have to wonder what these clinics have to hid if asking them to be clean and safe is going to be a fucking problem.

The Pissed Off Conservative said...

I wonder what Joaquin is talking about, Oh yeah he's pulling stuff out of his ass and talking without a single fact, just like the utter garbage that pollutes my party (GOP). If any of you had any brain cells inside those skulls you could see that HB2 is a service to the religious and retarded minds of the republican party or better known as "fan service". But one thing is for sure, Eddie Lucio is much worse than these imbeciles who make a law that pleases a few and benefits no one. Eddie boy, if you do this to your own party I wonder if you do the same thing at your house... Yes this sounds harsh but wouldn't you think the same way.

Please Think About This:

It is usually the females at lower socio-economic bracket that get abortions-----meaning minorities.

Should we really be supporting this with taxpayers money? Isn't this a form form of genocide?

Yeah--get rid of these minority babies!!!!!!!!!!!

Extreme cases(incest etc.) should be left to the discretion of the female and her doctor'

I don't believe gov. should tell me what to do but seriously. You think it is alright to kill a baby at 20 weeks? Yet you want to let murders off the death penalty? No kill animal shelters? We are just messed up.

Legislators passed the seatbelt law and we took it like dummies among, other rediculous laws..

If you can pay privately or have insurance, there are many willing health professionals out there that will perform a D&C. Patient shows up, "oh doctor, I am in pain and bleeding", case closed. Now if you don't have money, what?

Joaquin said...

@The Pissed Off Conservative

Non sequitur. Regardless of who the is pandering to, it's the right thing to do.

Nice try, junior.

Former county employee said...

To Eddie Lucio, how much are you making to pull this crap in Austin? You have to be gaining something to jeopardize your political career and those taxpayer checks to pay back all that money you owe? So how about it? How much you making on this deal?

Those clinics have nothing to hide. They function according to state and federal laws and are just as sanitized (clean) as any professional doctor's office. Obviously you have never bothered to find out. Such as, perform research before making uneducated ignorant comments. Don't you just love people who claim to be righteous, yet no nothing on the subject, not really. They only know the headlines they have read.

I wholeheartedly agree with "A Very Angry Voter" Senator Lucio Jr. you are done as a representative of valley Democrats. Start packing, because you WILL be voted out.

Abstaining due to your faith, is not representing your party's mantra or constituents. You have now oppressed not only women who sought abortions, but condemned women who wanted to keep their babies, but ended up with a miscarriage.

You care more about representing a church that protected child predator's than your fulfilling your duties as a publicly elected state official. You are out dated and a misogynistic conservative, that belongs in the Red party.

May your grand-daughter's never suffer under your oppression due to a rape, incest or miscarriage, but then that would never happen to your family member as you have enough money to ensure your females are flown to the nearest clinic, unlike the poor girl down the street. Your faith based arrogance will be your downfall and rightfully so!
