Locally, we love to harp on about how bad the Brownsville Independent School District and some of its administrators are. We even have some school board trustees bunching up on their colleagues and "censoring(?)", "censuring" them. Apparently, the old adage about not being able to be a prophet in your own land carries over to school districts because BISD just received recognition for having the Top Program, Top Administrator (Sylvia Atkinson), and Most Innovative Family Engagement Activity in Austin at the Texas Education Agency's State Conference for After School Programs. Way to go BISD. Congrats!

It's amazing what a bunch of money, a little bit of hard work, and more importantly, lowering the standards does to make an otherwise below average program (at best) look "top notch." Yes, way to go BISD.
Chingao, Juan! What happened to the other piece on Sylvia?
"Damm you, Letter V."
It would be interesting to know who made the nominations. You know, sometimes you can "write" the wrongs by being a little creative.
