Have you heard about the spat between Texas Southmost College trustees over the appointment of Ed Rivera to replace Dr. Roberto Lozano?
Apparently, chairman Kiko Rendon had a falling out with several trustees because his choice of Maribel Gutierrez had not been embraced by the majority and the set for the unexpired term went to Rivera.
According to sources close to the board, Kiko was miffed he didn't get his appointment and muttered something about encouraging someone to run against incumbent Adela Garza whose term expires this May. From what we hear, try as he might, he could find no takers for the feisty Garza. Since Rene Torres opted not to run for reelection, Brownsville Independent School District Art Rendon will run unopposed.
Well, Adela has many friends in the legal community who took issue with Rendon over the veiled threat of running someone to oppose Adela over the Rivera nomination (she voted for Rivera). But in between the appointment and the filing deadline, Garza spent a few sleepless nights wondering who would heed Kiko's call to take her on.
Fortunately for her, no one did.
But the threat didn't seat well with Adela's supporters, which includes a good number of local attorneys (her daughter Patricia being one of them). We have received an email from a source close to the Garza camp that one of these brave souls has been telling his colleagues of the local bar that he will be running against Kiko when his term is up in two years.
Although they won't disclose his name, our source indicates that the local barrister is serious and is preparing a campaign chest to take on the chairman in two years. We'll try to find out who the indignant attorney may be.

Frank Perez is the attorney for Dan Flores, owner of A.I.S.I (the security company that was $250,000 higher than any other) and still got the job. Frank Perez may have burned other companies to gain favor with certain Trustees.
Kiko is dirty, he asks for kickbacks from vendors..look into it D.A....he is also employed by a vendor that does business with college.

There are probems galore at the community college---TSC---beginning at the top with the President, an alleged micro-manager of the first order and extending into the ranks of the faculty and administrators they have gathered. Poorly paid and poorly led. The Board which seemed so promising a few years ago has made one misstep after another. Right now, Brownsville enjoys three inferior educational entities, including BISD.
Adela is such an elegant and smart woman. There no way someone could pull off fast one on her. TSC is lucky to have her on the board. Stick in there Adela the community needs you.
Most of the above comments reflect ignorance of the situation and, as we often see in Brownsville, are vitriolic, personal, sexist, and prejudiced by the culture of corruption. "La Jaiba" is real here. Ignorant people resent anyone who has focused on education and most here think all elected officials are corrupt or on the take. None of the folks who are critical have probably never gone to a TSC Board meeting.....and most continue to show their loyalty to Queen Julieta Garcia and her authoritarian regime. Trash talk is easy and reflects little knowledge of what's going on or the candidates.
In 5 years no one will remember tsc because it will no longer exist. It will be replaced completely by UT, A&M or any other major university willing to attempt to educate the ignorant people of the valley and matamoros. Poorest and most corrupt area in the US. More like mexiso rather than the united states.

You say we are ignorant, look at your statement. All names of countries and institutions are spelled with the first letter capitalized. It is TSC, not tsc, Mexico, not mexiso and it is the United States, not united states if you are referring to the United States of America. Your comment also contains sentence fragments, a
misspelled word and is poorly composed. When referring to single digit numbers,
spell out the single-digit whole number, it would be correct to write, "In five years" , not
" In 5 years". Use numerals for numbers greater than nine. You could also benefit from
the same services you say we need.

Adela's pulling the same crap that got her kicked out of LF.
It is the creation of the new Queen Lily that has Kiko in this predicament. He has ceased to represent the interests of the students and constituents and has become a simple "yes mam" board member. Queen Lily throws trips and free meals his way as gratitude and the cycle that they had done away with, re-emerges.
