WIGHTMAN IN DEEP DENIAL AND DELUSION; IGNORES REALITY

The photo of the letter above shows clearly that the Texas Attorney General's Office notified Cameron County District Attorney Luis Saenz that they expected to take longer than the statutory 180-day period to issue an opinion on whether a justice of the peace was authorized to sell and issue waivers to the state-mandated 72-hour waiting period between the issuance of a marriage license and the performance of the ceremony.

The request for the opinion was related to the issuance and sale of these waivers by JP 2-2 Erin Hernandez-Garcia. Three days later, the opinion was issued that clearly stated that a court could find that the JPs across the state do not have the authority to issue the waivers for a fee (reportedly $40) just so they can collect the marriage fee (between $150 and $250). It's obvious the waivers were issued just so the JP could marry the couples on the spot and quickly collect the fee for performing the ceremony.
Despite the denials of a local blogger (La Babosa Wightman) that such a letter was ever sent from the AG's Office to Saenz, the letter above clearly shows that the DA was not lying (and neither was this blog) when it reported the letter had been sent via E-mail to that office.
He/She wrote that:
":We all know Montoya lied on Saturday when he claimed the AG called Saenz and said the AG opinion would be delayed concerning JP's. How do we know he lied/., because the AG issued the opinion Monday morning."

But it was not through. It continued in the same vein when he wrote that:

"The post was a threat at Saenz's request to make clear to Ernie Hernandez that if he or his wife took action against Saenz by filing an official oppression complaint he would go after Erin. That post with the proof the claims about the AG statement being a lie is going to the DOJ and FBI tomorrow from me asking that a 4th criminal investigation be open against Saenz for threatening a judge with criminal prosecution as a way to prevent her parents from filing an official oppression complaint against Saenz."
Those of us used to the rantings and ravings of this disbarred attorney would ignore him out of hand, but when you start hurling disparaging allegations of oppression and criminality without reason and questioning the integrity of an elected official based on suspicions alone it's time someone set the record straight. For a document-driven kind of guy, La Babosa leaves much to be desired.
Ms. Wightman is obviously deeply hurt that both Erin and her father (disgraced commissioner Ernie Hernandez who had to resign from getting prosecuted) have lost on every issue they have faced, despite his sage legal advice.
There's the letter. Anyone with any self respect or journalistic ethics would apologize to the elected official against who the charges of lying were made. Don't hold your breath on this one.
