Well, we might as get used to having Carl Montoya as the superintendent of the Brownsville Independent School District at least fro another year.
A report in the Corpus Christi Caller states that the only one of forty nine candidates for the superintendent's position with the Corpus Christi Independent School District was called back for a follow-up interview. That was Roland Hernandez, who has been the Chief Administrative Officer for CCISD since 2009. Among the 49 who were applying was none other than our own Dr. Montoya (no relation to the writer), who first denied that he had applied to the CCISD, but later grudgingly told some board members that he had not interviewed for the position about two weeks ago.
Superintendents and administrators from around South Texas confirmed that they had learned that Montoya was among one of the applicants for the CCISD position, though the Corpus Christi board of trustees did not release the names of the candidates. However, sources close to the CCISD board indicated that Montoya and "two applicants from within the CCISD district" were among the top five strong candidates being considered by the board.
As time goes on, the daily requirements of running a $500 million system with 7,000 employees and 40,000 students is taking its toll on Montoya, who has proven vulnerable to the demands of some trustees like Minerva Peña, who seems to be intent on imposing her will on his administration.
That and the continuing embarrassment of having an ethics-challenged board counsel in Baltazar Salazar must cost Uncle Montoya his sleep. Time to gird those loins and bite the bullet, Carl.

Montoya is an idiot an thus, belongs in BISD. No wonder CCISD didn't give him a call. CCISD is a progressive school district....BISD is regressive.

Dr. Montoya is an excellent leader. He has been stymied and harassed by his bosses (the board). Let the man do what he was hired to do. BISD Board needs to stop micromanaging and meddling into matters that are not of their concern. BISD needs stability and give Dr. Montoya a chance to prove himself without The board butting in.

People need to get a life. Sylvia wants nothing to do with running the district. Leave it to Minnie and Carlos Guerra. Both can't wait for Carl to leave.
The SPA has been asked to leave, (summarily fired) or run out of town from most all of the supervisory jobs that she has had. He reign of terror stretches from BISD to El Paso peppered with complaints of favoritism to mismanagement of personnel. The only reason she is not Super now is because OP and the SPA don't get along.
The Board would be stupid to extend his contract, 28 grievances, 10 lawsuits all because giving his compadres pay raises and promotions. Who's holding him accountable , Oh, it's okay because he's pleasing Minerva, Otis, Cesar and Chirinos. Don't believe me, look at the people that have promoted and given pay increases, all tied to these loser corrupt board members. Sickening!!
