MONTOYA: A YEAR MORE, A RAISE OR ...I'M OFF TO CCISD

60. Discussion and consideration to amend Superintendents Contract to reflect an additional extension to contract.

62. Discussion and consideration regarding the appointment, employment, evaluation, and  duties of the Superintendent.

By Juan Montoya
Brownsville Independent School District Superintendent Carl Montoya is asking for a raise and a one-year extension of his contract, or else.
That's not exactly the agenda items above for the BISD board of trustees are worded, but you get the drift.
What Montoya (no relations to the writer) has not officially told the board yet is that he is considered one of the strong candidates of 50 applicants to be the next superintendent of the Corpus Christi Independent School District.
The board meets at 5: 30 p.m. Tuesday at the BISD main office at 1900 Price Road.
Sources close to the CCISD board of trustees say that of the 50 candidates who applied for the super's position there, Montoya and two in-house applicants are considered to be among tghe strongest candidates to be narrowed down to six finalists. The CCISD board meets Monday to narrow down the selection and start the interview process. We are told that Montoya has not yet received the invitation to interview with CCISD representatives.
We have also learned that Montoya has denied at least once that he had applied for the CCISD top post.
An another source asserts that Montoya said he was unaware that he was considered one of the strong candidates and perhaps a finalist in the selection process.
Meanwhile, at Tuesday's meeting, the two items above will be considered by the board of trustees. Will they give Montoya an one-year extension of his contract as he is asking? And will they also award him the raise he wants only to see him leave if he is chosen by the CCISD?

So if he leaves, who is next in line? Atkinson? will Pineda return? *( Would he want to return?) The district is so money tight and losing students to the charter schools that C. Montoya asking for a raise is ridiculous! How would come in to clean the house? School Board Elections will bring new people in. The posibilities are endless either way.

CCISD will not consider Montoya. Age factor, dull experience. Messy school district, board.litigations, etc. If he is smart, he will stay put, ride out his retirement and off to the Sunset. Supts never die, they just get fired away !!

Carl Montoya is a DICK! An ignorant DICK who proves you don't have to be smart to have a Ph.D (Pile is High and Deep). Montoya can barely carry on a conversation.... Carl is a good example for BISD students who graduate without being literate, like him. He is a perfect role model for illiterate BISD grads who aspire to have a big salary without having to learn anything.

He did not get the job, the Board will send him on his way Tuesday. No idea who the interim will be, but as long as OP is on the board the SPA will not be Super.
$10,000,000 in the hole is hard to over look.

The rumor is, Montoya is not gone yet and some administrators are fighting to replace him. Carlos Guerra, Berta Pena, are salivating this position. Interesting to know who Minerva Pena goes for.

Read the items, All that is asked for is what is right. Let him finish the complete school year. Why create so much drama. The citizens of Brownsville are sick of paying off Superintendents. Let the man do his job. Minnie, quit meddling. You are dumb as dumb can be. BISD needs stability. Board members need to do what's best for the students and employees of the district. Put your greed aside and think about what is best for the district.

Post July 14, at 6:08 PM Has No Idea what is going on at BISD. "Minnie quit meddling"? Don't You Mean "Caty & Luci"! Ya, Juan!

At July 15, 11:53 PM. It will make no difference if "cherguld" forms a Union or not; the State of Texas is a "right to work state" and no unions have collective bargaining agreements with any State funded entity. In other words any Teachers Union is a Paper Tiger and has no way to lean on a government entity in Texas, this is more or less seen as a positive for everyone except most Teachers.
