Congratulations to Mr. Cascos. I hope the county comissioners consider naming another republican as his replacement and not one of their local buddies. I am NOT a republican but with the majority of the local democrats I rather vote independent. The local democrats have shown with their actions that they are the equivalent of the PRI; they dont give a dam about their own people.
That's very good. The significance is that a special election will be held to elect a new Cameron County judge . Mr. Cascos will be content and overjoyed that he will be rubbing elbows and greasy palms with important lobbyists up yonder. He will be signing important proclamations such as Dog's Festival with Sen. Lucio at his beloved side. The best of luck Secretary of State Cascos.

Now we give the county back to the Dumbokrats. The rats, like Dan Sanchez are likely out lobbying for themselves. But, Gilberto will likely get his wish....a Dumbokratic County Judge.
On the other hand, Carlos Cascos is an honorable and ethical man who serves the people and now the State of Texas well.
I voted for Carlos Cascos to be my County Judge. Now, the Commissioner's Court will appoint a replacement until the next general election. The replacement will, in all probability, be a faithful Democratic insider - perhaps Joe G. River or even, God forbid, Gilberto Hinojosa. I feel my vote for Carlos Cascos was totally wasted.
Before the bullshit flies, the local government code specifies that vacancies are filled by the County Commission, by majority vote and appointment.
Wait one moment Mr. Cascos! You are quitting before your newly elected term begins? Is this some kind of sick joke? What happens to your electorate who believed in you and voted for you and contributed financing to your campaign? And now you are abandoning your post for State office? And what happens now to Cameron County? Are we now stuck with the shenanigans of the Democrats who will certainly appoint a Democrat to the County Judge vacancy and worse that it appoint that despicable Joe Rivera? I am so disappointed in you that it sickens me. And you chose Veterans Day to announce your plan to quit? You have insulted the memory of all veterans who have served this glorious and grateful nation. You didn't see them turn tail like you have done when they answered their call to duty. SHAME ON YOU. Ethical and honorable are not the correct words to describe Cascos. He knew months back about his upcoming selection and still lied to the voters and asked for their support. His assistant trashes everyone on his show and on the blogs and Cascos encourages him.Greedy and conniving are a better description.

This Republican strategy was agreed before the election. If Cascos won or lost he would still be appointed Sec. of State. The voting pubic was deceived by the Republicans . He was elected as the County Judge. If we had known of his intentions , I won't have voted for him. If Joe would have stayed and run on his intended position as County Clerk he would probably be getting appointed and having two years to prove himself however because of his big ego and his true colors no more friendliest. Anything. Just bitter to the core. LOL

If he had known for months, why even try to win? I saw him on street corners campaigning, working hard to get elected. I dont believe for a minute this was known for months. Had cascos not run or lost we would have rivera. Im glad cascos ran and won. Im proud one of our own was selected. He will do well. Now its up to us the voters to make sure the right person is elected in 2016. Thank you judge for making cameron county better.
