COMMISSION VOTES 4-3 TO GIVE LINCOLN PARK TO UT

By Juan Montoya
With no discussion about the impending vote allowed, four members of the Brownsville City Commission voted to "convey" Lincoln Park to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley for a $6.5 million fee to move the amenities at the existing park to a new site.
The vote occurred with sparse audience present. Mayor Tony Martinez, commissioners Rose Gowen, Estela Vasquez-Chavez and Deborah Portillo voted for the conveyance and commissioners Jessica Tetreau-Kalifa, John Villarreal, and Ricardo Longoria voted against.
District 1 Commissioner Longoria was a late comer to the "nay" vote following a crowded public hearing at  Gonzalez Park where a majority of the crowd voiced their opinion against the sale or gift of the 48-acre park to the UT System.
However, he had participated in putting together the presentation for the hearing then. Villarreal had initially supported the conveyance.
The park was part of a response for a Request for Proposals by the UT System to keep the university downtown after the split of the UTB-TSC "partnership."
It was among many other incentives and outright gifts that the City of Brownsville under Mayor Martinez made to the university regents.
The city commission is considering moving the location of the new park to a spot directly across the street from a sewage plant. Opponents of the sale vow to become involved in the city elections this May 2015. Martinez, Longoria, Vasquez Chavez and Tetreau are up for re-election.

No surprise the 4 that voted for the removal of the park were not present at the Gonzalez Park meeting.

They are each worthless pieces of shit who belong in jail, except for Tetreau.

This is absolutely totally illegal act on the part of these Morons. The public will not forget this come election time.; especially Diamond Portillo and Deep Pockets Tony Martínez.

Why couldn't UTB resolve its own problems? Totally unacceptable that the city has to step in and help them out. We will sure remember these four come election time, hope that they have the intelligence not to run for office ever again.

Congratulations to all those elected on Nov 4! Also, congratulations to the four newly elected UT System regents that sit on the Brownsville city commission! Son una bola de pendejos Tony y su trio de viejas estupidas. Gowen the wannabe health nut needs to get on a diet herself. Estela is a worthless attorney with a law degree from the same school as Erin la marrana. And Portillo sells fake jewelry at Tiffany prices. She won't be in business for too long if she manages it like our tax dollars.

Estela could care less. She isn't running again for city commissioner because her new mansion being built is not in the district she currently represents. This was her middle finger move to the citizens of Brownsville.

Incestuous? Absolutely!! We have some of the dumbest and fugliest men and women on the planet in this city. And the ugly keep breeding with the ugly (there's the incest part everyone is everyone's cousin cuz nobody outside Brownsville wants to fuck the fuglies). We need a new species? LOL - agreed! Browntown is like the missing link between ape and man - not quite fully either hahahahaha
