AFTER AN HOUR LOCKDOWN AT HANNA: ALL IS WELL

Things were tense at Hanna High School after administrators two students carrying a suspicious object on the campus' security cameras. The lockdown was ordered at approximately 2:12 p.m. and was lifted about an hour later at about 3:37 p.m.
Brownsville Independent School District spokesperson Drue Brown said the students fled campus but were later detained and are being questioned.
BISD officers were called to the school to search the premises for the two young men believed to be students. A contingent of municipal policemen and motorcycle patrolmen also answered the call.

Why aren't police officers stationed at the school? Police units are a deterrent.

Does the unit responding have to travel from Veterans high school on Hwy 281??

Maybe one of your readers has a child attending Hanna and can tell you more specifics about it. I am more than sure THE STUDENTS know who did what; they will talk about it among themselves, share it with their favorite teacher but will NOT go to the cops and spill their guts.

I am a retired educator; all my service in the RGV. In today's public schools, the student population is divided into thirds: kids who are excited to go to school and learn; the electronic crack addicts (cell phone junkies) who just wanna have fun, and the gang members. These are your major populations in our school. The gang members come to school for a number of reasons: two square meals a day,
consummate drug deals for after school, and to make sure mama doesn't lose her food stamps. One out of three students in our public schools are good for nothing scumbags. Now, do you think our schools are safe? That was a rhetorical question.
