Pull out the fancy tablecloth for another gala invitation-only state of the city PR event to showcase the Tony Martinez administration.
If you remember, Martinez hosted the first state of the city presentation years ago and emphasized
his campaign slogan "Believe in Brownsville."
Thnis year's venue is the same and will be held Feb. 18,At the time, attendees paid $50 unless they were fortunate enough to get a ticket from a corporate sponsor.
We can hardly wait to see how Da Mayor will explain his indebting of the city's utility ratepayers to the tune of $325 million for the Tenaska power plant, his real estate speculation in downtown properties that have benefited his pals, and his autocratic style of management. During his short reign, Martinez has personally guided more than $21 million in certificates of obligation through a pliant city commission, and strived to hand over prime real estate to the oil-and-gas wealthy UT System. Along with IBC President Fred Rusteberg ah UTB President Julieta Garcia, he has allowed United Brownsville to usurp elected government and impose their will upon the city and divert the city's assets to their whim.
What can Martinez possibly tell us that we don't already know?

Da Mayor continues to ignore the public and press on with his autocratic and unknown agenda. We can expect this event to be yet another meeting of United Brownsville; the unauthorized and unelected group put together by Julieta Garcia. Julieta and her cronies will convene for what will be just another circle jerk.
