NEW SIGN, SAME MISTAKE WITH THE GLADYS POSSESSIVE

(Ed.s Note: It's been some time (July 2013) since one of our three readers pointed out that the wording on the sign along the frontage road pointing toward the Gladys Porter Zoo contained a wrongly-placed possessive in the word "Glady's." Actually, the reader pointed out, there is no possessive in Gladys, only the name. Well, wouldn't you know that in the improvements made by the city on the signage to the zoo was included a replacement of the old sign. True to form, the new sign was identical to the old one, including the possessive error. We don't know who Glady is, but it's his or her zoo that the sign is pointing to. Maybe we are just comfortable with the mediocre that we continue to repeat these very public and embarrassing mistakes.)

I think a Porter Zoo is a place where they confine the guys that carry your luggage at airports. This one must belong to Glady. I didn't know we had one in town.

There simply should not be an apostrophe; it's not a possessive.
