TEXAS STATE BAR SANCTIONS DE LA FUENTE FOR 6 MONTHS

By Juan Montoya
He was the federal government's star witness in their case against convicted former Cameron County District Attorney Armando Villalobos during the May 2013 trial which had the public riveted as details of widespread judiciary corruption were revealed.
Now sources in the Cameron County District Attorney's Office indicate that a memorandum from the Texas State Bar to the local courts informs them that Oscar De la Fuente Jr.'s privilege to practice will be suspended for six months – from June to December – though no specific reason is given for the sanction.
For several days, De la Fuente testified from the stand on how he and Mando would often meet privately in his office to make deals that resulted in the former DA softening prosecution against De la Fuente's clients in return for kickbacks.
De la Fuente claimed he had a special relationship with Villalobos that allowed him to get deals for his clients.
Federal prosecutors presented case after case in which De la Fuente told jurors he went to Villalobos in order to obtain better deals for his clients in return for financial “kickbacks” for themselves.
Newspaper reports at the time list several cases – including one where a man was accused of stabbing his wife's arm and breaking her nose – where Villalobos dropped the felony charge to misdemeanors after striking a deal with De la Fuente. Others included several aggravated assault cases, a felony DWI case, and a deadly conduct case, among various others.
Prosecutors made their case using De la Fuente's testimony to depict that Villalobos let criminals walk because of the dirty deals he made with the attorney. The “kickbacks” resulted in De La Fuente being able to have access to Villalobos, which permitted him to work out deals that benefited his clients and himself.
De La Fuente's federal license was suspended for three years, and he was not prosecuted in that case because of the information he provided federal attorneys in court.
Federal Judge Andrew Hanen had ordered prosecutors to send the names of local attorneys involved in judiciary corruption in the county to the Texas State Bar for possible sanctions.

Whatever law enforcement agency made a deal with Oscar De La Fuentes should be held accountable for protecting this criminal. It sends a message of,NGO ahead and break the law, then you just give up your accomplices and we will let you go free and clear. Despicable!

It is an unpleasant fact of law enforcement life, that at times you have to make a deal with a demon to catch a devil.

Only proves that the State Bar is like the NFL, doesn't hold people accountable. The State Bar gave him a six month punishment for being a snitch? Obviously no one from the State Bar read the court records or read the FBI report. Oscar De La Fuente testified that he conspired with Armando Villalobos on cases and also testified that he kept money that should have gone back to his clients, an amount totally over 150K. So the State Bar is sending a message to other attorneys who might think about being corrupted. You can cheat or steal from your client and its okay. Oscar De La Fuente got that shyster ex-AUSA Eddie Medrano to represent him. Smart move knowing that Medrano worked in the office and knew Michael Wynn. No wonder this country and government is corrupted and the people have no trust in our officials. Oscar De La Fuente walks around like that purple dragon thinking that he is king shit! Let me tell you Oscar de La Fuente, no one trust you anymore. Your colleagues know your a crook and won't trust you with any client or much less when money is involved. Anyway, you're a lousy lawyer and you don't represent your client like you're supposed to~ You're no better than John Blaylock who only takes clients money and do very little in representing them. Your dad would be ashamed of you! COWARD!

What about all of the years this guy served as a board member of the San Benito School District. So he was bribing, scheming and stealing with both hands in the courts but he was a perfect angel as a school board member??? That does NOT pass the smell test!! Shame on you Mister.
